It seems that there is an increasing role for small depots. Hull Botanic Gardens was once nearly closed but is now busier than ever. Recent depot refurbishment it now is a mini based for Northern's 2-car 158 fleet. 10 sets return every night, all periodic heavy cleans, most A-exams, gear box and engine swaps. Regular day time fuelling and running repairs and early evening fuelling for Sheffield units. Hull Trains 2 sets go up daily. What about over depots?

Holbeck at Leeds has seen the 142 internal referb programme going on over the past few months plus fuel and washing as well as light maintenance. I'd assume a lot of 158 maintaining will occur at Hull BG as that's 99% of the traffic so over a fairly short period all the 158s do or can easily be sent there leaving Neville Hill to do other exams on other units

Washing, cleaning and tank emptying/refilling is done to most of the fleet of 333s at Skipton, not Neville Hill now with some units running ECS to Skipton at the end of the day.

St. Leonards Railway Engineering looks after up to four Class 171 Turbostar units for Southern. They do refuelling, cleaning, and A examinations if I recall correctly.

There is the newly reopened Leicester, not sure what's going on there but there appears to be activity

Quite a bit of activity it seems. UK Rail Leasing's Class 56 fleet is based there for spot hire, and they are reactivating and repainted them one by one. They are also doing maintenance on other companies locos such as 56006 and 86401.

Cambridge DMU depot has had something of a charmed life - opened in the 1950's as a DMU depot, closed when Norwich Crown Point opened in 1982, re-opened by RES to service the loco-hauled vans used for Royal Mail traffic (hauled ECS to/from London), closed again then re-opened by Central Trains for overnight DMU servicing. Currently operated by LNWR for XC, but has also been operated by EWS and Maintrain post-BR.

Botanic Gardens must have a different definition in Hull, to what it has elsewhere. ;)

Allerton Depot was closed by Axiom Rail in 2007 but was re-opened after refurbishment in 2011 as the depot for Northern Rails fleet of 28 North West based Class 156 diesel units.
In addition it is the base for Northern Rails newly acquired Class 319 fleet for which there is an initial allocation of 20 units. The depot has recently been expanded to have a capacity for 48 Class 319s.

UKRL aren't doing work on the AC's. Merely renting space. Probably the members of the group that preserved 56006 have ties with UKRL
