Are they now capable of 110 running? I am pretty sure I registered 350239 by itself on one of the Trent Valley diagrams during one of my Great Escapes earlier this week.

Yes, I did check and the services I noticed it on (twice on the same day) did not go via Northampton.

Did it keep time between Euston and Rugby and was it a service timed for 110mph? That may give you your answer.

There hasn't been anything published to suggest 110 mph for /2s but someone in another thread did suggest that /3s are proving a little unreliable.

Unfortunately I can't remember which diagram it was but it was definitely one of those between 1000 and 1700. It was on the 15th so someone which TRUST access may wish to look up which services they were.

I had a look at all Trent Valley services on that day and they all appear to have kept up with the timings between Rugby and Milton Keynes, in both directions. All of them appear to be 110 ones too.

They occasionally run /2s on the TV services. More likely on a Sunday. I'm pretty sure They are still to limited to 100mph. When I'm on one they are usually a few minutes behind what they should be.

There have been no bulletins at work saying otherwise and there is no notices in the cabs so the /2s are definitely still 100mph units.

350/2 are still 100mph definitely! The /2's don't lose that much time, a couple of minutes Euston-Rugby which they make up with the standing time at Nuneaton, a couple of minutes between Tamworth and Rugeley which is made up at Stafford.

Sure, they're not as comfortable as the /1's and /3's but the 40 odd extra seats are a benefit during the "Great Escape"!!

But I have been on trains that are full and standing with 3 by 2 seating and it is very unusual to see someone sat in the middle seats if the 2 either side are occupied.

On commuter trains this is often the case (though Tring commuters seem happier to cram in than those going further) but the Trent Valley is often populated, off peak (school hols) and weekends at least, with groups including children. 4 adults and 2 kids (or any combination including more kids than that) can sit quite happily in a bay of 6. So in a way (speed aside) the /2s suit the Trent Valley better than they do the commuter services, where airline seating is preferred and people will often stand rather than sit in the middle of a 3 (or even opposite someone, despite the bays in a 350/2 being quite generously spaced, certainly compared with the 321s).
