There is a one off documentry on BBC2 at 21:00 on 29/04/15 to find out if customers are getting value from the £8 Billion of fares and the £4 Billion of public money that goes into the rail industry every year, should be worth a watch.

Oh lovely another hatchet job on the railways...

Nothing like a bit of 'Red Top TV' on the beeb. I wonder if a future version of that show might ask the public if they think the TV License is value for money.

We're clearly not getting value for money, that much is a given.

A more interesting programme would be to suggest ways of fixing it.

Why don't you all wait and see, before writing it off? Being shown so close to Election Day may pull some of its punches, though, assuming there were punches in the first place.

TV show on BBC2 today @ 2100. Very timely as I have been delayed last Friday, Monday and today on both SWT and Southern!

Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford climb aboard Britain's trains to find out whether customers are getting value for money from the £8billion of fares and £4billion of public money that go into the railway industry each year. They discover a system that is struggling to contend with an outdated infrastructure and more passengers than at any time in living memory. The former stars of The Apprentice meet irate commuters, train-operating company bosses and the head of Network Rail, and unearth evidence of bureaucracy and inefficiency

How long before we have a comparison between a walk-up rail ticket and a booked 3 months in advance flight, a comparison with the fantastic foreign railways and an appearance of Christian Wolmar?

I'll still watch it though!

Expecting the usual bunch of "I have no choice but to travel with X or Y toc and pay Z amount which is extortionate" etc etc and "My train is always delayed and crowded". Would love for the Beeb or Sky to do a documentary comparing one persons travel over two weeks going into London. One week traveling by train and the next week traveling my car as a true comparison.

Live in hope......

Would these programmes even be broadcast if they showed the railway in a completely positive light? I think not!

The Railway Keeping Britain on Track
All Aboard East Coast Trains
The Railway: First Great Western

Mainly positive, not hatchet jobs either.
