Now that the Stockport to Rugeley via Birmingham loophole has been closed :(

I am planning a West Midlands DayTripper tomorrow, what's the cheapest ticket to get to the DayTripper area? I was considering getting the Stockport-Rugeley ticket and going to BHM via the Chase line, but its seem to add a lot to the journey!

Any advice? I don't mind dodgy tickets either:D

I can see your problem! To be able to use the half-decent Stafford-Birmingham line you will need to buy a Stockport-Stafford OPDR for £17.90 plus a Stafford-Wolves OPDR for £7.40. More restrictive is a £17.90 Stockport-Penkridge plus Penkridge-Wolves for £5.20.

Cheapest is via Rugeley TV plus Rugeley TV-Bloxwich N OPDR for £3.40.

if it makes any difference, I have a season ticket Manchester-Stockport which I will be using. The Penkridge split is ok.

If you are thinking of catching a fast to Wolverhampton that doesn't stop at Penkridge (or Stafford for that matter) by virtue of your season ticket, someone else may need to advise on whether that is within the T's & C's.

A Daytripper Add-On of just £1.30 extends the validity of an adult Daytripper to include the Chase Line between Bloxwich North and Rugeley TV - see

I wasn't aware of that and it's well worth knowing.

I suspect the OP is more interested in getting to/from Birmingham as quickly as possible. Going via the Chase line is likely to take a significant part out of his/her WM day out.

I probably will go via Rugeley-I've only done the Chase Line once, it was a saturday in December and two coaches-not fun! I need LM 170s anyway so its not too much of an issue.
