Travelling on the Tyne & Wear Metro yesterday I noticed many of the stations include the name of another UK station, or are 'copies' - is the T&W a record for this?

Kingston Park
Bank Foot
Ilford Road
Haymarket
Monument
Chichester - although pronounced differently
Brockley Whins
University
Northumberland Park

London Waterloo (There's a Waterloo station in Merseyside)

If we start listing all stations with Junction or Central in the name then the thread will reach hundreds of postings.

Kirkby in Ashfield, Kirkby in Furness and Kirkby Stephen are nowhere near the one-and-only Kirkby.

Lostock Hall and Lostock Gralam compared to just plain Lostock.

On Merseyside, there are Meols and Meols Cop, two separate places and different sides of the Mersey.

My home station is now called Radyr.

A long time ago it was called Penarth Junction.

The first time I travelled by train as a small boy I was travelling from Cardiff to Pontypridd. I knew a little about local Geography and told my mum we were on the wrong train. I do not think the station was called Penarth Juction in 1970 but there was an old sign.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Here's mine:

London Road (Brighton)
London Road (Guildford)
Leicester London Road
Manchester London Road (present day Piccadilly)
Carlisle London Road (closed)
London Road Glasgow (closed - the former station near Parkhead Stadium on the route of the Glasgow Central Railway east of Bridgeton Cross)

There seems to be more London Roads than you think there are.

In peace
