Paris - Belfort Diesels (CC 72100)

I'll be in the Belfort area later this summer. Hoping for a ride Belfort to Paris. I gather they're living on borrowed time. Will I be too late for a ride?

Long-distance on the Belfort line was still in the hands of them when I was last at Paris Est in June 2014.

Quick YouTube search shows a good few videos of them added in the last month, and I haven't heard of any immediate replacements.

There are however much more informed members on the forum with regards to them, so I will let them chip in to either back me up or correct me as appropriate!

News this morning is that an Intercités train from Belfort to Paris Est has derailed after hitting a lorry on a level crossing at Nangis (~35 minutes from Paris).

7 injured, 1 seriously.

Rail Replacement buses replace Local 'Transilien' trains between Gretz-Armanvilliers and Provins.

Presume that buses also replace Intercités trains from Paris to somewhere (Troyes would be logical).

Unconfirmed reports from local Transilien drivers on Twitter that this has also caused track damage which could take weeks to repair.

Weeks???? Now I know the once mighty SNCF are not the most efficient of European railways but why should it take so long?

Services from Paris to Belfort are all booked loco and stock, along with a few odd shorter workings from Paris to Troyes / Culmont. I would recommend joinging the Yahoo group 'Eurpoean Rail Gen' (ERG) which has a files section containing loco diagrams by country - the most up to date SNCF ones are I think December 2012, but AFAIK are still accurate aside from minor timetable changes.

Open now - the damage wasn't as bad as first expected. It was initially feared that the derailed had caused more track damage than could be seen - fortunately that was later shown to not be the case.
