Is the 12.00 Glasgow to Birmingham normally diagrammed for
a Voyager or a Pendolino?

Isn't there a yahoo group that lists all the trains as to whether they're voyager or pendolino?

Also, given that the other poster lives "near Glasgow" it could be a fair assumption that he may have seen it as well!! ;)

All you need to do is look up the train on RTT and look under "Operational Information". If its booked a Pendo, it will say "Class 390 EMU" and if a Voyager "Pathed as Diesel Multiple Unit".

When I've seen (or even been on) this service since the December timetable change, it has been a 390 and coach E has been unreserved, which would suggest it's a 9 car diagram.

Until December, it ran as a pair of Voyagers.

'Pathed' ≠ 'Booked'!

Indeed, however with VTWC (and VTEC and XC etc) I have never known any reported cases of them being incorrect. Whilst you can't use it for TOCs like Northern, with Virgin services it's a reasonably safe bet.

Until December, it ran as a pair of Voyagers.

I believe some of the Euston-Birmi-Scotland allocations had to be played about with in order to accommodate Shrewsbury services (which obviously need to be Voyagers).

That is purely the timing method - it does not mean that they follow through as the same trains.

This issue is having to be pointed out time and time again on the Forum

To be fair though, with HSTs, Voyagers and Pendolinos it is accurate, as there's almost always only one type of train.

The issue is where we have Cardiff to Manchester services that are timed for a 158, when they are a 175. Or 142/143/144 Pacers and 150/153 Sprinters.

Thanks for all the replies.

I should point out that I was only interested in what unit would be likely to operate the service rather than an absolute guarantee of what unit would be used.:)

To be fair, it's not only ATW trains FGW, Chiltern and TPE just to quote a few have been noticed.

If it is a 9 coach one, make sure you sit in coach G as that is the declassified first class coach.

Didn't know this!

Wish I'd have known this in January, when I had a 9-car on a Euston to Birmingham service. Even though I specifically asked for forward facing seats, I ended up facing backwards and not a single other forward facing seat was free for the duration of the journey! Could have just moved to Coach G for added luxury AND a chance of facing forwards!
