You know,
I have posted on this forum site many times, and whilst I always try to be polite, the way posts are either moved to other threads
We get a lot of requests to move posts to other threads (e.g there may be a thread about BR units on Smiley Trains and a thread about Electrostar units on Super Trains, and a discussion about the former develops on a thread on the latter).
Due to time constraints, we don't always make such moves. I've not yet had anyone feedback to say that they prefer for posts to remain in the wrong thread before today. We're all entitled to opinions but it is difficult for us to please everyone, sorry about that.
We get some requests to lock threads. Not all requests are granted. Although old threads with no recent posts are locked automatically, current threads are rarely locked and when they are, people are welcome to ask us to unlock them if there are further developments or they wish to say something significant that hasn't been said before.
An example of this was the
Jeremy Clarkson and the future of Top Gear thread, which was locked in post #628 and was subsequently reopened.
or replays being nasty and abrupt is totally uncalled for!
People may be abrupt simply due to lack of time, but there shouldn't be any nastiness, which I'll come back to...
I also see the way people are often spoken to by others on this forum.
Our
Forum Rules require posts to be "
respectful".
You may say 'well you don't need to come on here and post then' but that's not the answer...
No, it's not. The answer is contained in our
Forum Rules:
" if any content causes you concern, please alert us to it, by reporting (
) it."
We've not yet had any reports from you, so hopefully now you're aware of it, you can let us know your concerns.
There were 368194 posts made in the last year (April 2014-March 2015 inclusive), that's approximately 1000 per day. Therefore, it's best to assume that the moderation team have not read any post or thread unless it's reported to us.
We will treat reports confidentially and will investigate as soon as we can. It could be something simple, or it could be a major concern, either way we will look into it.
I joined this forum a long time ago to chat and supply info or ask for info...but the amount of times threads have been abruptly moved
We move threads because they may not be in the most appropriate forum. This isn't a criticism from us, and sometimes it's unclear until a thread develops which forum is most appropriate.
or the way I or others are spoken to is simply not on or acceptable.
Sorry for the moan!
Dean
As above, please contact us with any concerns.
In addition to the report button to post a concern regarding a particular post, there is a '
Contact Us' form for non-urgent general queries. You can also send one of us a PM (you may have to prod us if we forget about it, for example if I see it on my phone and think 'I'll reply when I'm on a PC', I may forget to reply, as I often get several daily).
And finally, a minor request from me. As mentioned in our forum rules, we do ask that "
New threads should be given appropriate, descriptive titles", this enables people to have a rough idea what each thread is about so people can choose which threads to read. If you can click
Edit and then
Go Advanced (or follow
this link) and choose a descriptive title, that would be much appreciated, thanks!
