Trainee train driver Assessment days

I've just been invited to a GTR assessment day, got the assessment papers through, but just wondered if anyone knows what I should expect when I get there. Quite nervous!

I'll be there on Wednesday for stage 1. The pack pretty much explains it all mate, just practice the group bourdon test on paper and make sure you know what you're doing with the DFFT stuff. Good luck!

I will also be there on Wednesday, first time at assessment center, as others have said pack explains it all. And pretty much any recruitment thread on here has small bits of info so might be worth sifting though those / google the tests to get an idea of what you will be looking at.

It's kinda all a blur for me now but I think I got about 11/12 lines done on each section.

I think someone mentioned before about being consistent - like getting say 11--11-12-11-11-12 as opposed to 11-7-8-10-7 etc

You just have to be accurate and fairly quick.

No mistakes and none missed is essential so speed is irrelevant to a certain degree

I agree with above. On the Group Bourdon if you are making any mistakes, you are going too fast.

Get to a pace which is consistant, with zero errors.

I listened to his advice, slowed down and hit 10 lines with no mistakes and got an enhanced pass.

That's wrong I'm afraid, while accuracy is certainly important, 1 mistake won't be enough to fail you.

If you only do 7 lines that is a certain fail, regardless of your accuracy.

Consistency is not part of the scoring, 8 lines on page 1 and 10 lines on page 2 will be treated exactly the same as 9 lines on each page.

Roughly speaking, of those who fail, about 2/3 fail on accuracy, and 1/3 on speed.
