Another shed has popped up platform side at Leeds station for Delice De France.

The only problem there is it has invaded the space where tickets are sold on the bridge so they've been shoved to one side. It's going to be an absolute nightmare once Delice actually opens, you're going to have a ticket sale queue and a pastry queue conflicting with each other!

If it's a problem I'm sure they can easily be moved elsewhere, they are on wheels I think.

And a new entry/exit is being built at the south side anywayso they might be moved closer to the new gateline there anyway.

I'd be interested to see any plans for the work they are doing if anyone knows where they can be found online.

Combine the two. A maple slice, regular latte, and a return from Ben Rhydding, please.

...they've put in a Pasty Shop unit opposite Delice De France!!!

Soon I wouldn't be surprised if a passenger produces a Cornish pasty rather than a ticket to a conductor!

No idea why Leeds suddenly needs so many retail units platform side, my only guess would be trying to grab some custom from the upcoming southern entrance...

But they certainly need to find a new home for ticket sales on the bridge as it is currently causing an issue in that the queue can often totally block one of the lifts!

I suppose it's a combination of passengers now entering via the southern entrance, and I think they are getting rid of some of the standalone units on the main concourse to create more space (Burger King etc.).

These companies (/SSP brands) already exist on the station.

ah but it is all about the customer journey experience and varying choice of retail options. Ultimately this increases profitability and generates more money to spend on the railways

These particular units are clearly designed to meet the needs of people changing trains as most refreshment options at Leeds (taxdogingbucks & Pumpkin & the yellow one aside) are on the other side of the barriers

These "ToGo" kiosks will soon be appearing at selected ScotRail stations, now that these are also operated by Abellio.

The ToGo Kiosks will retail hot and cold beverages and snacks and provide a consistent range of drinks, bakery goods, snacks, confectionery, newspapers and convenience products.

STATIONS TO BE FITTED WITH TOGO KIOSKS:
Ayr, Dundee, Paisley Gilmour Street, Aberdeen, Partick, Inverness, Motherwell, Glasgow Central Low Level, Haymarket, Charing Cross, Stirling.

Wasn't it Leeds station where David Cameron said he had purchased a Cornish pasty and it was shown that the outlet had closed some years earlier? This was during the furore raised over Osborne's so-called pasty tax.

And very convenient it is too when I finish work and arrive into Lime Street just too late for the two Tescos on the walk home and can't be bothered driving to the 24 hour Asda.

I am sure I can find you an alternative snack food outlet. Where do you need to go from Lime Street? :D

He'd probably prefer to see one at West Ham so he can pick one up on the way back from the football.

There was a branch of West Cornwall Pasty Company less than 5 minutes from Leeds station until March last year (2014). I've just looked up about what he said and I can think of a few things to fault David Cameron for but I'm not sure this is one of them.

Leeds is an interchange station. Lots of the people passing through neither start nor end their journeys in Leeds, and getting outside the barriers and back in again can be a PITA due to the various poorly trained private security thugs.

At the same time, Leeds and many of the destinations it serves aren't exactly full of people that suddenly think 'Oh I fancy a £3.50 sausage roll'

Us Yorkshire folk have the old purse strings tightened up a bit more than our Southern relatives!

I've found the ticket line always staffed by Northern Staff, most of whom will wave anything through - more than once accidentally wielded a wrong ticket.

Problem is that the barriers are (were?) set to reject passback, making it rather more difficult to go out of the barriers then back in.

I did tweet Northern Rail about the 'reject passback' issue as it is extremely frustrating when I have my MetroCard and pop out to McDonalds for a coffee which takes a good 5 minutes only to get back to the gates and 'REJECT PASSBACK' <(

If they do as said upthread and take away Burger King I'll not get that message again. I like my BK's and the one at LDS is always efficiant

Burger King is believed to be moving to another unit on the station (potentially the ex- Leeds Visitor Centre).

Aren't most Burger King outlets on stations SSP-owned franchises? I'm pretty sure both Leeds and Manchester Piccadilly are, and with prices considerably higher than high-street branches within a few minutes at a brisk walk.

If Burger King were to move somewhere it could have some seating, there's a greater chance that I would use it.

Yes they are. Of course, before the Bite card discount was slashed the price would be made pretty similar.

Burger King does now have a voucher app (that's not accepted at SSP outlets) that makes their normal branches very cheap (it sometimes has £1.99 meal offers or free meal upgrades).

If you take issue with the addition of extra food huts on the footbridge then you should complain to Network Rail and your MP. As for Burger King, it is closing (not sure if it is moving) at Leeds City station. This is to allow more doors to be fitted to allow better movement. In addition the pavements on New Station Street are to be widened to improve pedestrian safety. Other work in West Yorkshire already funded are extending the subway at Huddersfield into the car park (old freight yard), three waiting shelters at Huddersfield, Modernising both Bradford stations (interchange & Forster Square).

They wouldn't pay the ground rent to NR if they didn't think they could make some serious money from having an outlet or two in that location.
