Hi

Apologises for what may be a stupid question but does the below mean I can travel on any service on the dates showing? I'm on a works night out on Friday so if there's flexibility I may take a later train. I know I will lose my seat reservation if I do this though.

Booking Details

Journey 1: Newcastle to Edinburgh

Outward Journey
Newcastle to Edinburgh on 23 May 2015

Departs: Newcastle at 12:41
Train Operator: Virgin Trains East Coast
Arrives: Edinburgh at 14:13
Seats Reserved: Coach: C Seats: 23
Ticket Type: Off Peak Return
Route: Any Permitted Route
Key Terms and Conditions: Valid on off-peak services by the route shown. Return travel any day within 1 month.

Return Journey
Edinburgh to Newcastle on 25 May 2015

Departs: Edinburgh at 12:30
Train Operator: Virgin Trains East Coast
Arrives: Newcastle at 13:57
Seats Reserved: Coach: C Seats: 73
Ticket Type: Off Peak Return
Route: Any Permitted Route
Key Terms and Conditions: Valid on off-peak services by the route shown. Return travel any day within 1 month.

With regards to returning on the Monday seeing as VTEC have confirmed trains will run between Edinburgh to Newcastle am I likely to be ok on the scheduled return or would it be wise to seek alternative transport?

I am at a wedding and can possibly get a lift back.

The only restriction is that the ticket is not valid on trains departing Monday to Friday after 0259 and before 0930. So it's fine to get a later train on the Friday although, as you say, you won't then have a reserved seat.

On the Monday, if there is a strike but there are some trains running, I personally would be tempted to try to get a train out of Edinburgh earlier than the 1230.

And your ticket is valid for return on the Friday, or on any day up to and including June 21st, subject to observing the not-before-0930 restriction on weekdays.

So I can use any service on the outward journey on the Saturday?

Yes. It is a flexible Off-Peak Return.
