Hi all

I was reading a thread on money saving expert a while ago that discussed the possibility of using other routes to travel in order to lower the price of a ticket.

I will be travelling from Maidenhead to Paddington and onto London City Airport DLR stop tomorrow morning, can anyone advise if there are cheaper tickets than the £12 single quoted? I have a re collection that Iver- Paddington may be valid ?

In addition, would I need to print the routing guide to prove my point ?

Many thanks

Jack

I have my wires crossed.

Can someone tell me however if IVER - FELTHAM is still valid via Reading with a travelcard ? I know it was in 2013 but I can't make heads nor tales of the routing guide.

Thanks

Without a cardcard:

www.nationalrail.co.uk comes up with via Iver via Windsor to Feltham at £6.70

Via Reading it's £14:30 for an off-peak or £18.10 for an anytime ticket, depending on when you need to leave.

Maidenhead via Windsor to Feltham is a tenner (anytime)

Try www.trainsplit.com too, but I can't get anything cheaper to come up.

On both of the above, you can specify a VIA station if you go to the advanced options.

You'll need to add in whatever railcard you have, as you haven't stated which one you have, so you may get it even less.

I haven't checked the Routeing Guide but even if it were valid, it would be no good to you as the moment you reach Iver on your way into Paddington, you would have reached the end of the validity of an Iver - London Zones 1-6 Day Travelcard (because you would be travelling on the return leg of the Travelcard between Maidenhead and Iver), so you would be liable for a Penalty Fare if you went further.
