Hi

I've just started the application process to become a Trainee Conductor at Ramsgate station in the South East.

I had an email last night to say my application had been screened and was successful and would be receiving an email to take an online assessment soon. I'm just wondering if anyone could give me a run down of what steps are likely to follow after and an idea of what the online assessment is like?

Any tips/advice would be great, also on the vacancy it says Trainee Conductor - Future opportunities ... Do you think this refers to future opportunities once you are employed or that the vacancys might not be for a while?

Thanks in advance :D

You have to first pass the online assessment first.
Step two will be assessment centre which can roughly take from 3-6 weeks.
Once you pass that, you have long wait until they have vacancy for trainee conductor at your prefered location.

My advice would be take the first interview date they provide.

The "Future Opportunities" most likely means they are recruiting for a pool of candidates and there are few or no vacancies at present.

The recruitment process after online assessment would be a formal interview and an assessment centre. Those two could be in either order depending on the TOC.

Good luck! :)

Thanks for the replies.

Had the email through for the online assessment, 3 tests for calculation, verbal reasoning and count out the money. Would the tests at the assessment center be the same?

I think if I mess up anywhere it will be on the calculation part... Maths has never been my strongest skill haha! especially when it comes to the 34 x ? + 9 = type of questions I'm sure they'll be!

Thanks again :)

The Assessment Centre depends on the TOC, but usually includes ticket selling and checking tests, a concentration test (SCAAT or Group Bourdon), verbal comprehension, role play and a structured interview.
