It's that time of year again, the annual euro-trash pop mash up is on at 8pm tonight! Are you going to be watching it? If so, come chat here with me/us about it!

(otherwise it'll just be me talking to myself  )

I haven't watched it since Terry Wogan left. He was very very funny with his comments on the silly music acts. It's not as good now, especially as it's split into two shows. What happens if Australia win?

I'll have it on in the background but it's all about the controversial voting for me - love it! :D

Ireland already eliminated I see and UK entry looks poor.

I'm more inclined to watch it since that boring old fart left. Give me a Ken Bruce commentary any day (via radio of course).

If Australia win, next year's competition will be held in a European country of Australia's choice, (presumably negotiated with the lucky nation of their choice).

It won't happen, Guy Sebastian is a great singer but too conventional and not enough of a showman to win Eurovision.

But if SBS had picked Kate Miller-Heidke or Sia Furler it could have been more interesting.

Sweden or Russia to do well is my prediction. Sweden was my prediction in 2012 and Denmark in 2013 which both turned out correct ;) Can't remeber who I predicted to win in 2014, but it certainly wasn't Austria!

Sir Terrance of Wogan made it - Sure Graham N's brilliant but I'm usually out and about on the Saturday nowadays.

I like Graham Norton doing it, almost more than Terry Wogan tbh. It was hilarious when he was shown on TV last year!

Personally, I really like our song, and it's quite Eurovision, but nowhere near good enough to get close to winning :P I watched the first semi final and really liked Serbia and Estonia iirc. Looking forward to tonight very much.

Maybe one day Scotland will be allowed in.

Sorry it won't. Even if Scotland voted yes and the vote not rigged. The BBC has the licence for the whole UK area. It's the European Broadcasters Union that dictates which countries can enter (hence why some non european countries can enter). so if Scotland had their own entry the BBC would be responsible.

The bookies seem to agree ;)

UK's entry was even worse than France's. Everytime I heard the chorus I thought of bird's eye potato waffles they're waffley versatile!

Personally I liked Iceland's song. Or maybe it was just their singer... <D

You'd have to chain me down to a chair, to get me to watch euro-vision. Rather watch paint dry or grass grow:cry:

I liked Lithuania (enough to vote for them), Georgia and Russia. A lot of the ballads I found forgettable

Now that the singing is out of the way time for me to tune in and see the recap and the voting! :D

I actually thought the UK entry was pretty decent compared to recent efforts.

Not a chance of winning though...

That 3 points from San Marino was just amazing!

Winners were Sweden in the end, with a close battle from Russia. I personally preferred the Russian song, but the Swedish were decent winners nonetheless.

Best part was the results from Finland when she exclaimed "I am finally getting married", pointing to the ring on her finger, and the Austrian presenters gave a puzzled look suggesting "why the **** is she telling us this?"

Kosovo wants to compete but its independence is not universally accepted so it isn't a member of the UN, and so therefore can't join the European Broadcasting Union.

Well what a fall from grace for Austria! I only saw the results as I've spent the day out and about on trains and buses but saw the winners at the end - good staging but a forgettable song IMO

To answer the questions above, I heard had Australia won it they'd have voted for a European (a proper one, not an honoury one :P) country to host. I also believe the UK get automatic qualification for the final due to funding or some such

Yes, If Australia had won they would have had to award it to a willing European country, but would have been able to defend their crown. As they didn't win, it should remain a one-off entry, but we shall see.

The UK, France, German, Spain and Italy all gain automatic qualification due to being the greatest funders of the EBU.

The main joke of the year was "Good morning, Australia". But if we assume that the whole of Russia counts (so including the Asian part), then Russia has the most eastern time zone, 11 hours ahead of British Summer Time.

In 2013 she was the Finnish singer, singing "Marry Me", about how she wants to get married, so it was a reference to that. My partner picked up on this, seems to have skipped by the presenters though!
