I was looking to see how much an Off Peak One Day Travelcard cost from Dartford into zones 1-6 and found that the normal off peak version is reasonable at £12.80.
But next to the £12.80 fare is another Off Peak one Day Travelcard priced at £19.90 - The difference between the two is that the £19.90 is valid on High Speed.

Upon checking the RSH Journey planner for this particular ticket it seems to allow you to travel AWAY from London down to Gravesend before changing to HS1 into St Pancras.

This strikes me as being rather odd. Being able to travel away from the London Travelcard zones!

How else can you use HS1?

As I read the thread I instantly thought DLR from Woolwich to Stratford Int....

Are we sure this ticket is valid via Ebbsfleet (or potentially Gravesend)?

Yes.

Enter DFD to STP into the SE Mixing Deck and it offers itineraries via Gravesend taking just 42 minutes. And the £19.90 travelcard is one of the return options.

Interesting one. They may well say that Dartford - Gravesend - St Pancras is the outbound journey before the travelcard kicks in. Can you make use of the travelcard before doing the initial journey?

I am tempted to give this a go...Can't see why you can't make use of the Travelcard before hand. Using TOD I could pick the ticket up at Slade Green and take the 428 to Dartford.
Would definately make an unusual trip into London and get to experience the fast section of HS1 in the process!

I've bought this ticket a few times. The last time I travelled from Dartford and broke my journey at Gravesend, the man on the gateline at Gravesend (pl 0 entrance) initially refused to accept my ticket, stating that travelcards from Dartford weren't valid at Gravesend. After I politely pointed out that that it was "Route High Speed", he apologised and let me through. I haven't yet had any problems on the train between Gravesend and St Pancras, and the ticket was also accepted for break of journey at Stratford International without any problems.
