Can RTVs be cancelled?

Given that all the green RTVs have a unique number and barcode, could they be canceled? If so, would they be rejected at the booking office stage.

A friend of mine didn't receive his RTVs from a TOC and they said they needed to wait for them to be returned by Royal Mail. This never happened and after a month of waiting they agreed to send out new ones. He's received an email saying that they have sent him new ones and this may take up to 10 days. Saturday the missing letter with the first set arrived Saturday (can tell by date of letter)

He is traveling within the next 48 hours. I've told him to go ahead and use the first set of vouchers then when the second set arrive, ring the TOC with his reference and explain and offer to shred the second lot or post them back to their freepost address.

Just wondered if he might have a problem getting the first lot accepted at the booking office?

I suggest contacting the issuing Train Company urgently regarding this matter.

OK, I'll text him and tell him to give them a ring and just say he'll use the first lot and will send the others back when they arrive, and see of course if they are ok with that.

As long as he doesn't use both sets then there is not an issue. I could even imagining them not even noticing if both got used given the usual carry on of many companies. I am NOT for one moment saying he should do that! NEVER NEVER!!!

Would just not want him having a voucher refused at the booking office on the system so yes, best he gives them a call in the morning.

Hmm, trying to use vouchers that have been reported as stolen. Could be a bit of a dodgy area to be honest.

Edit: It's also not necessarily a case of just sending the second set back. Even the attempt of using the first set could be dodgy. After all, if the TOC's systems do show as they are lost/stolen, and suddenly someone tries to use them at a station to buy tickets, how does that look?
