I downloaded the network rail timetable from their site, but I can't find the Leeds to Carlisle via the S&C timetable, it says Table 36. Anyone know where it might be, Thanks in advance
Regards
Mike

I had the same problem Mike.

Pleased I only downloaded it and had not purchased a hard copy - it is riddled with errors, even the index claims that Leeds-Carlisle is table 36. Is it the beginning of closure by stealth for the S&C again?

Please let's not get too melodramatic about this. The problem is that this NRT appears to have been a rushed job. Nothing more and nothing less.

Several routes have changed table numbers (reflecting the changing operating patterns that routes have) but the station index and maps have not been updated.

That's all that has happened.

As above - there is a full list of tables on the Network Rail website:
http://www.networkrail.co.uk/browse documents/eNRT/May15/Route_Index_and_Timetable_links.pdf?a=new

It is not melodramatic. The mixed up table numbers would be excusable if that were the only issue but it is not. A number of tables in it are so incorrect that they are unuseable.

The TOCs managed to get their timetables out electronically and on paper, meanwhile the eNRT was very late and full of errors. It does appear there is a serious lack of anyone giving a damn about it any more.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
A question here - did the present day Table 36 (or 42 now) for the Leeds - Carlisle service ever appear in Table 53 (the Midland Main Line) as a continuation from Sheffield and Leeds City when there were direct services from London St Pancras to Glasgow and Edinburgh on Midland Railway metals?

In peace

I was referring to the statement that was made suggesting this was the beginning of the closure of the S & C by stealth. That WAS melodramatic or do you not think so?

As to the state of the NRT - it is probably the worst we've seen in a long time. And I've been consistent in saying that it is a mess. That's a different issue though to the one I was commemting upon.

The through services would have appeared in several tables. My 1958 timetable has London-Leeds and Leeds-Carlisle tables for the Midland route, and the NER timetable has a custom Sheffield-Skipton table. By 1968 the full service for Sheffield-Leeds was only in thé NER book, and that 3-way split persists.

Apologies berneyarms, I missed that part of his post. To be fair it is not melodramatic, it is utter nonsense. The crappy state of the NRT is a symptom of NR not caring about NRT nothing more, it has no connection to a supposed closure attempt on the S&C which is not going to happen.

Bit political here......but..... if you transfer the look and feel of the timetable, and transfer all that to the attitude of NR to it's Groundforce, then you can see whay there is unrest ! (from a person who works for NR and used to be proud to work for NR for over 30 years)
