Unless something major has gone wrong, virtually guaranteed to be 2 x 2-car 158s. These units normally lay over for about 20 minutes at BHI, so you should have plenty of time to get settled.

I caught the 10:09 from BHI last Friday, no more than about 20 pax per coach in the Aberystwyth set and about 10 per coach in the Pwllheli set. Travelling to Welshpool you can use either. The train reverses at Shrewsbury. It was maybe 2/3 full at most (at least, until Harlech, beyond which it is acts as a school train).

It can only be a 158 and will probably be too. Only Arriva's 158s and NR 97s can head onto the Cambrian as they are the only ones fitted with ERTMS

The new enhanced service starts on May 18th with 4 extra trains a day each way however all the extra trains are 2 car and some of the existing ones are cut to 2 west of Shrewsbury.

What train are you planing on using from BHM INTL?
