Plenty of delays on Southern and SWT. Due to a delay on Southern, I just missed the 0822 from Clapham - Guildford. The 0852 and 0922 from Clapham to Guildford were cancelled. So the next scheduled train was the 0952. I was not going to wait for an hour and a half at Clapham so I got on the train to Redhill and changed there for Guildford.

A tree down closed all four tracks through Forest Hill for a time.

East Croydon was exit only due to serious overcrowding.

Southern haven't exactly covered themselves in glory by giving out misleading information on twitter.

That's what Southern do so well - mis-information!

Astonishingly they were telling passengers to use the tube from East Croydon, when asked what tube would that be they said they meant Elephant & Castle:roll:

Were there no Guildford trains from P11 either? RTT reckons there were. So was 'via Redhill' definitely the answer?

At East Croydon it was a scene from World War Z with bodies climbing over each other and trampling down children and old ladies.

Unfortunately, the Guildford trains from plat 11 are painfully slow and uncomfortable and have no 1st class.

Journey times:
33 minutes for a fast from Clapham Junction to Guildford
50 minutes on the stopper via Cobham (my favourite route to Guildford, also the 0842 took 56 minutes due to delays)
1 hour 2 minutes on the stopper via Epsom

The 0852 started from Woking. The SWT Journeycheck page will almost certainly have mentioned that, so checking it and then taking the next fast to Woking would have sorted that cancellation out. Passengers are very lucky that SWT use such a system.

Actual journey times via Redhill:
1 hour 13 minutes if you took the delayed 0838 from Clapham Junction (normally 1 hour 14 minutes)
1 hour 33 minutes if you took the delayed 0908 from Clapham Junction (normally 44 minutes but the connection was missed)

Yep, going via Redhill was faster... but hey, you got your First Class

No First Class therefore they don't exist ;)

Guess he also avoids the fast East Croydon to Clapham Junction workings that use 455s (those from Caterham and Tattenham Corner)

I don't get why London Overground at 8am had blanket cancelled their services right through 10am but Southern only drip fed them occasionally, some becoming Cancelled and others just saying Delayed. It was really difficult to see whether or not trains were running with disruption or weren't running at all.

Problems on Southeastern now, a trespasser in the St Mary Cray area has bought everything to a halt.

Update, I was told by a member of staff that a girl is threatening to kill herself and her family have gone down the track looking for and so the power has had to be turned off, can only hope for a good outcome.

I planned to get the cancelled 05:50 from East Croydon to London Bridge, but got the 06:02 to Blackfriars instead and easily got a seat. Sometimes working odd hours has its advantages

There is now another trespass incident at Folkestone Central.......one of those days it seems!!

Nothing moving between Ashford and Dover at the moment, these two trespass incidents must be costing a fortune!

Well most people would do the same if it was their daughter, especially if they did not know the railway regs on such actions.:)
