Hi all

I submitted my application for Trainee Driver in August 2014. For my most convenient rail station, I put down Stratford International. I received an email in January of this year saying that my application passed the screening process. They said that their recruitments needs are under constant review and they will keep me on hold until they can proceed with my application.

I am not sure whether to contact them or not and thanking them, while enquiring about how long the recruitment process usually takes. Does it look like I am interested and keen or does it look like I am nagging?

Thanks for any feedback!

I applied with them this time last year, I found them to be really slow with their recruitment process it was very very late that they finally said I wasn't successful and even after I had gotten through the initial screening ... I hope you are far luckier with them than me. (currently I'm progressing quite well with another TOC) I'd chase them up tbh it has been a while

Hi and thanks for your reply.

After you passed the initial screening, what did they say? Did you progress to the next stage and were unsuccessful, or did they say you passed the screening then just fail you?

I found their entire process very slow, I got pass the initial screening then heard nothing months, finally got a holding email "we are processing lots of applicants etc." and then more months of hearing nothing... finally email to say wouldn't be progressing further. I think the whole process took nearly a year... Very frustrating!

I applied for southeastern the same time as you. I had my tests in feb and interview in April , I now start in September. My friend didn't hear anything like yourself so he emailed them and then he got a date for assessment. It won't hurt to email them.

Wasn't this one of those "applying for future vacancies"?

Yes, under reference for the application, it does say 'Future Opportunities'.

Hi

Which depot or area did you apply to work in?

I spoke to recruitment on the phone today and they said that there are many people that need to be assessed at the assessment day (and that would be my next stage). They are basically going through particular areas at a time and doing it that way, so hopefully they will let me know when my area/depot comes up.

Did you apply for Victoria in London?

How did you find the assessment Coxie? Lots of posts on here saying tests in two stages. I've been given an assessment date of 30th June and email says everything in one day! How did you find the ATAVT, I'm a little worried about that one, also, what's the written communication exercise all about? I've got six pictures of a guy riding his bike through a flood to get to the doctors late, is that all youve got to do, describe the pictures? Congratulations on passing anyway, hope to hear your reply...

I done mine split over 2 different dates because they had a lot of people doing it that day so I guess it's quicker for them to filter out the ones who didn't cut the mustard. Tests are all passable for the average man with a half decent brain. Once I started doing them I found them enjoyable in a way, just pay attention so you're clear on what they are asking you to do. If you downloaded the test practise booklet then that pretty much covers most of it.
