Metro blind persons concessionary passes

As we now live in West Yorkshire my wife has a Metro blind persons concessionary pass which is valid for free travel on trains as well as buses. However there is no information with it, or on the Metro website, as to how the pass should be used on rail services, Can the pass simply be used directly or (as when we lived in Northern Ireland,) does a zero fare ticket have to be purchased with it?

If its anything like the Scottish 1 just flash at the gateline staff to be allowed through and present it to the grip onboard. Id maybe giv them a call.

The Blind Persons ENCTS pass is unique in West Yorkshire in being the only one which grants free train travel, and at all times of the day.

No separate ticket is required for you or your companion if it is a "with companion" pass. Simply show your pass to barrier staff or on board ticket inspectors.

Not quite accurate in being 'unique' but close! South Yorkshire Disabled ENCT Passes are valid at all times on buses, tram and trains, though the rail concession only applies to South Yorkshire issued passes. These are also valid on through (I.e. No changes) journeys between SY and WY on Northern trains only. That means trains to Leeds and Huddersfield, but not beyond.

Therefore you good lady could come to South Yorkshire but only on the bus, and use Sheffield Supertram, but not by train (or not without buying a ticket from WY's last stop to Sheffield etc). However if you move to SY she could go by train to WY. Ah! the complexities of concession army travel.
