Hi

Myself and some others are travelling to the Isle of Wight next Saturday for a walk from Shanklin to Ventnor and then a bus back.

Some are setting off from Farnborough and others Guildford.

I believe going via the Hoverport is cheaper from some if not many stations but more awkward, given the number of changes.

One person may be travelling from Havant so only need a ticket from there.

One concern some people have is that next Saturday is the Isle of Wight music festival. We were planning to get a ferry around 10-11am and possibly return 6-7pm. Are we likely to encounter problems travelling?

I believe the music festival is elsewhere on the Island and it's my opinion that it might be busier in the morning but in the evening most people will be at the festival not travelling home.

Has anyone got any experience of being or going to the Island on this day? Thanks.

I don't think you'll encounter any problems, although it will be no surprise that it will be busy, very busy,

The ferries will be busiest Thursday/Friday heading towards the island, and on Sunday/Monday heading back, as most festival goers will be going for the whole weekend.

Will be easier going via the Cat service from Portsmouth Harbour if you have a through rail ticket to Shanklin, no bus interchange.

Thanks Mike99. I just new someone on this forum would have the answer as it's such a popular forum. :)

Hopefully it's enough to reassure the other people.
