Hello guys.

So after many months of trying I got the phone call to say i got a role as signaller :D. It has now been three weeks and I have still not heard from HR :(. Any others out there who can put my mind at rest and give me the time frames between the phone call to say 'you got the job' to a medical being booked and offer pack arriving. HR are just shrugging their shoulders and not giving anything away.

Have you got a letter confirming the offer? You could ask for that if you're worried about the security of the offer.

As to the time frame, I've genuinely forgotten how long it took. The problem we're facing is that there aren't enough places at signalling school for all the people we're hiring.

That said... well done mate!

Cheers tom,

No. Not got anything... managed to get through to HR for some one to tell me the offer letter could be 8 weeks which I find a little strange. Surly its a bog standard letter with the usual terms and conditions?!?! I can understand once I pass the medical and they have to check references and putting together a box specific offer would take longer, but a letter to say you have the job subject to medical and reference checks should not take 8 weeks (in my opinion)

In the interview it seemed that they had already booked places for signal school, and they gave me a rough start date or a wish of when they would want us to start as there is a couple for the same line.

At the moment none

------

Just spoke to HR to say that the resource manager is checking all the paper work and will phone with a confirmation offer, so to just sit tight and wait. :|

You must have had an area that you applied for in the first place though. The next signaller intake at York is in July but, they are also running courses out of Peterborough, Scotland and soon.....Basingstoke. Just sit tight as Tom says. Process is lengthy but worth it

hi Lddex, just realised you messaged me (messages dont show when i browse on my phone for some reason) so ill answer you here instead of a PM for future reference incase any one else searches for this answer.

I cant remember exact time frames but i think it was over a month from when i got told i had the job and went for my manager to photocopy my ID to when i actually had a date for my medical and everything else that followed. Like other people have said you just really have to be patient a phone call to HR once a week helps.

Overall from getting told i had to the job to actually starting will be about 4 month maybe more, it is not a fast process sadly.

On a possitive note I will be attending the training in york in july, can any one who has previously done the training let me know if its monday to friday and if you stay in a hotel or on site of the training centre please?
