Que the people moaning about the traction.

This isn't wnxx ;)

It will be interesting to see how it goes to be fair, if it is the first tour over the Borders line then I suspect it will fill, but doing it in the dark (which the moves at Crewe and Carlisle are too, granted though they aren't that rare) won't entice a lot of the hardcore trackbashers.

Barry Scott Schenker ;)

Comes with added penny cleaning powers

---

That overnight trip around Leeds area last month sold out (the one with the 37s going into Bradford F Square etc) sold out, so there is some demand for 'overnight' trips

Undoubtedly the demand is there, but I believe the focus of Pathfinder's various overnight tours (something Spitfire tried once or twice too) was getting locos down to places you couldn't otherwise get them (e.g. Bratfud, Ilkley and Glossop), not rare track like the bits and bobs this time around, plus, as someone above implied about wnxx, the traction hasn't seemed to go down well...

Still, sounds like a decent tour mind, I love an overnighter, alas I doubt I'll be on this one.

well the website does state:

"MOTIVE POWER IS EXPECTED TO BE TWO BS SCHENKER CLASS 66 LOCOMOTIVES."

;)

Two Schenker class 66 locomotives allocated to the now demolished Bescot depot ? :-?

Timetable still not out yet, sounds very late and difficult? I hope I should receive the ticket by Friday morning before I go to Nuneaton

Got my tickets booked to Eastleigh, no tickets arrived probably due to no timings yet, getting a bit tight at the moment!

Looking forward to another overnight railtour, one or two loco swaps for other 66's wouldn't go amiss for the red pen :) looking forward to topping up overall mileage too!

Just phoned up Pathfinder tours and seems like Network Rail has not started the timing job as of yesterday, looks like staffing issues, as last week Steam Dreams sent out tickets with no timings, the train is nearly full and ready to go, they hope send out tickets today, if tickets not with one in time, look on realtime trains and turn up at joining station, board train.

Not happening - from Pathfinder Website
MESSAGE: 13:25 WEDNESDAY 16 SEPTEMBER 2015
NETWORK RAIL ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE VALIDATED TIMINGS TODAY SO THAT WE IN TURN ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE OUR CUSTOMERS WITH CONFIRMED ARRANGEMENTS FOR THIS EXCURSION.
THEREFORE, WITH GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT , WE ARE POSTPONING THE RUNNING OF THE BORBER REIVER TO 2016.
CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE BOOKED TO TRAVEL WILL RECEIVE A LETTER BY FIRST CLASS POST , AND AN EMAIL VERSION WILL BE SENT TO THOSE WHOSE EMAIL ADDRESSES WE HAVE.

Has anyone on here had the email letter from Pathfinder? If so, what more does it say?

Email reads:
It is with a heavy heart, and sincere regret, that I write to advise you that this railtour is unable to operate. This is due to Network Rail not being able to supply confirmed routing and timings for us to act upon until tomorrow (Thursday), which is then too late to resolve any arising issues, send confirmation letters, etc, to reach you before the train would start out.

We are looking to re-date this excursion to run in the spring of 2016, but cannot confirm anything as yet. However, we will write to you again when there is some definite news.

If you have paid by card you will receive a full refund via our 'world pay' system; this should be with you within the next seven working days. If you paid by cheque then we will arrange for a refund cheque to be raised and posted out to you shortly.

Once again my sincere apologies for the great disappointment this all causes and I truly hope there will not be a need to ever write to you again in the same vein. You will receive a hard copy of this email in the post.

With regards

You get a refund irrelevant, the letter states that they are trying for next year but of course is not definite. Depends really, I had a couple of PF tours in the past that were canned and then was told 'look out for next year'..a few years on I'm still awaiting the re-run

I know it's not PF's fault, but I highly doubt I'd be booking it next year if it did run, just in case, and the fact I have advances and holiday taken for it. Still, might use the funds from the refund and maybe book the York tour from Ealing Broadway on the Saturday

I would imagine your not the only person who would have had advances/hotels booked for the tour which would have been wasted.

Plan B out the window, called RTC to see if they had any seats left on The Yorkshireman tomorrow, turns out that is cancelled too due to the steam loco failing and therefore not attending. I'm not having much luck this year, York tour with PF cancelled, no steam on Canterbury tour and now two tours I could have done cancelled. Going to try PFs Bristol to Chester/Manchester later in December, so that wont run then
