Hi

Does anyone know the full rolling stock numbers of the Scotrail, Virgin West Coast, East Midlands Trains (EMT) and CrossCountry (XC) fleets?

does anyone know the rolling stock numbers of the scotrail fleet?

As in total fleet size, or as in individual units?

Fleet size:
288 units (784 coaches)
2 Locomotives (hire in from DRS)
12 Mk2 Coaches (hire in from DRS)

Class numbers used:
156
158
170
314
318
320
334
380

Note that there they are due to receive some more rolling stock over the course of the franchise.

as alluded to in a different thread, your friend here is abrail.co.uk

http://www.abrail.co.uk/emuformations.htm
http://www.abrail.co.uk/dmuformations.htm
http://www.abrail.co.uk/diesellocodetail.htm
http://www.abrail.co.uk/electriclocodetail.htm
http://www.abrail.co.uk/lhcspassdetail.htm

These webpages contain details about the rolling stock on the network, and has details about livery, owner, operator, depot etc

Using the search function of your internet browser, you can then use the codes from this page:

http://www.abrail.co.uk/Rail Franchises.htm

to find the stock used by operators. In some cases, an operator will use a 'block' of stock, eg scotrail use all trains from 314201 to 314216, but in others (notably classes 150, 156, 158) The ordering is less consistent, and operators will have units from all over the class

Basically yes. If the unit number starts 3900xx (so called class 390/0) then it's 9 coaches. Units starting 3901xx (so called class 390/1) are 11 coach. You'll notice the numbers aren't consecutive. This is because some of the 9 coach 390/0s were converted into 11 coach units, making them 390/1s. I'm relatively new to it to!

If you're interested in spotting / recording them you might find it useful to get a stock list book which will list everything - basically the same as the abrail website listed above, but much easier to carry about!

I (and many other forum members) make use of the NREA. They're often stocked in station book shops, but you can also get it online.

There is a similar book which I have from Platform 5 publications. It's more expensive but includes more information. Again available at many station bookshops and online.

I'm sure many other similar publications exist!

XC SuperVoyagers:-

The class 43s (HSTs) are locomotives and usually work with a 43 leading, 7 coaches (mk3s) and then another 43 on the back.

The class 170s are formed of both 2 and 3 coaches and work around Birmingham. 170101-170110 are 3 coach, 170111-170117 are 2 coach, 170397 and 170398 are 3 coaches, 170518-170523 are 2 coaches and then 170636-170639 are 3 coaches.

The class 220s are all formed of 4 coaches and in my opinion are the worst train on the network (along with 221s which are formed of 5 coaches except 221141 which is formed of 4).

I hope this helps.

A slight exaggeration there! They're excellent when they are empty but they could of had a better sited air-con and more coaches. Also VTWC ones are cleaner and better maintained.

I would rather have a 220 than most trains on the network.

Sorry for going off topic.

The list looks good, but you missed out the coaches.
