Hello everyone. This is a warning about the new Android 5.1.1 update. Don't do it! I did it yesterday and now I have no mobile Internet. Also battery goes flat quickly. Anyone else have this problem.

Is this an official update, or one of those that requires rooting to install?
This is the kind of thing I've seen mentioned on websites talking about non standard software, but I'm very surprised that a reputable (so if this was a Chinese phone it'd make sense) company would officially release a update with such a major bug.

I had to send my phone back to Sony for them to sort it out as I had the problem on my Z1...and they put a new version of the build on...and it works properly

Only problem is you have to wait for over a week til it's sorted

Let the media scanner rebuild the caches and you should see the battery return to normal in a day or so. As for losing the Internet, that's odd but you can request the APN settings again very easily.

Did you update from Android Lollipop or an earlier version? There is an issue with battery life in Android Lollipop on the Z3 Compact, certainly - mine has gone from 2 days battery life to only 1. Though I found doing a cache clear (Google it) helped a little.

The update I got yesterday seems to have made little difference to me other than changing the approach to muting the ringer.

It was an update from lollipop. The new approach to muting the ringer is good though.

I gave up with the clowns at Sony, 3 times I sent my Z1 to them to fix a specific fault with the phone and 3 times it came back unfixed.

It was the worse phone I've ever had, the only benefit it brought me was the fact it had a decent camera in the end I just went with Lumia and I've never looked back.
