I have now all but finalised my all line rover plan. I will post a link to it this evening.
The outline is (home stations are Three Bridges/Crawley or Gatwick Airport)
Day 1: Up to St Pancras, over to Kings Cross for Chieftain to Inverness
Day 2: To Kyle, Armadale, Mallaig and Glasgow
Day 3: To Lancaster, Barrow, Carlisle, Sunderland, Kings Cross, Home
Day 4: To Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Ely, Kings Lynn, London Bridge, Home
Day 5: To Brighton, to Bristol, Severn Beach, Exeter, Exmouth or Paignton, Clapham Junction, Home
Day 6: To Victoria, Marylebone, Birmingham, Shrewsbury, Swansea, Reading, Gatwick, Home
Day 7: To St Pancras, Kings Cross, Hull, Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Crewe, Euston, Home

Looking forward to it

That sounds like a nice plan. Better than the sort I would do (having at least 1 ECML long leap each day!)

Sounds like a good trip. At least you've managed to keep hotel bills down.
I'm doing a ALR next year but the 10.00 restriction at certain stations i.e. Euston, Milton Keynes etc doesn't make planning easy.

For Day 5, and depending on your timings, you could do Exeter to Exmouth, ferry to Starcross and then down to Paignton. Saves a certain amount of backtracking.

Last year I caught the 0749 LM to Coventry, then the 0942 to Carlisle (the 0843 off Euston). There are ways of getting round the annoying restrictions, similarly out of Kings Cross, get a Hull Train or Grand Central, or a Great Northern to Peterborough then pick up an East Coast Virgin service.
