Good afternoon,

I am new to this site and if I honest I am being alittle selfish. I am wondering if anyone out there has any information as to who or where would be incharge of the manufacturing of aluminum components in trian carriages. I understand that each company will have there own precurmant department and manufacturing site. Its a long shot I know but if anyone has any information it would be greatly recieved.

Without knowing what the components in question are, and what the nature of your interest is, it's difficult to provide further assistance.

Rail vehicles today make use of components manufactured by a number of suppliers, they themselves have their own suppliers, so there's a huge number of contact points for each rolling stock manufacturer (or assembler).

I'd probably suggest making contact with the Railway Industry Association and any regional railway trade associations (such as the Derby & Derbyshire Rail Forum). They can almost certinaly point you in the right direction for your query.

Are we talking about castings, extrusions, pressings, machined parts, powertrain components, interior trim, bodywork parts or what?

Good morning all, Firstly I would like to thank everyone who has offered me information regarding my original post. I think I should post why my interest lies in aluminium. I work for a company in the uk who are an aluminium specialist, we offer bespoke extrusions and standard profiles in all different grades and designs. I am trying to think outside the box as the market is so competative and I thought what better place to start than on a forum with people who have a passion and a wide range of knowledge in this industry. I am looking for information on the manufacturing and maintance side of things. I have been on many trians over the years and they seem to be full of machined aluminium and extruded aluminum parts. Again thank you for the time to read and comment on this post.

Your first port of call would be Bombardier of Derby and also Hitachi who are in the process of building a factory in Shildon
