When the schools break up in October, I'm going to drive to Tweedbank and ride the line a couple of times there and back. If anyone is interested in joining or is in need of a lift to Tweedbank or points north and is flexible with time, get in touch.

Max 4 occupants.
First come, first served.
Fuel donations gratuitously welcomed.

Meet up tbd in the Wigan area.

Mods: Upto you if you think it's more appropriate for the Forum Meets section.

Possibly up for this, not sure if I'm going away yet though! (I'm only around 11 miles down the road :) )

It's an incredibly good idea, I'll however be doing the Borders Railway in 2 weeks time.

Mind you, I might take advantage of this offer for some shack scoring opportunities. I would of course be prepared to pay towards the fuel, would this be a day trip?

Good. You all probably know my MO is to drive between stations but I think this time I'll use the reasonable timetable for the line to switchback along the route (upto Shawfair but may as well go to Waverley too), unless there is an issue with the line on the day.

My route will be M6/A7 but possibility of scratching Gretna, Annan and Lockerbie on route there or back.

Not sure on time I'll leave Wigan/depart Tweedbank as of yet but Wigan to Tweedbank is about 3.5 hours according to Google so this needs to be accounted for too.

Sorry to hijack the thread a little, but are you doing opening day?

No, I work then.

Fair enough. It was mainly in response to Techniquest saying they'd be there in 2 weeks as to why I was wondering :)

I am indeed, I'll be there with Blindtraveller for opening day :)

As for this thread, scooping Gretna Green and Annan too en-route is actually quite tempting.

I can't commit yet to this as circumstances beyond this weekend are as yet unknown. At some point next week I should know a bit more about what the rest of the year holds!

There are a few of us likely to be there, so keep an eye out :)

Awesome sauces, I have no idea which train we'll be on but it won't be too early, what with a late evening flight into EDI on the Sunday for it. I should imagine we'll have an idea soon, although we really ought to set up a new thread for it!
