Hi, I hold a priv rate Oyster card that has credit on it but have noticed I'm not being charged priv rate, do I have to get the priv rate renewed at an office ? It's been a couple of years since I took the forms to an office when I set the cards up..thanks in advance.

You need to take your Oyster card & Boxes to a LU ticket office before 30th June each year to update or it will revert to public fares. You can still do this after but if you've used it im afraid you will have been charged the full fares for each journey made.

I had exactly the same problem when I first had an Oyster; I too was unaware of the need to renew the priv discount, and ended up paying full fare for a short time.

Basically, when the new priv card is issued each Spring, I take it to an Underground ticket office and get the details renewed. With Underground ticket offices closing, I believe that you can still get the details updated by enlisting the aid of one of the staff who assist passengers to use the ticket machines.

Thanks, that's most helpful, it's awkward to get them updated when you don't live near the capital,, we only go a couple of times a year,,,hopefully I'll get it sorted,, how do I go about loading more credit on, do I just do this at the same time? Thanks

You can do it at the same time if you wish.

Or at any other time; I loaded £20 on to mine a couple of Saturdays ago. You just touch your Oyster on the reader on the ticket machine, and it then gives you the option to top up the credit if you want. You can pay by cash or card.

Just a short note but when I originally applied for my PTAC, the said discount was not loaded onto my Oyster despite the paperwork being in order.

I only found this out a few months after when I enquired at one of the booking offices why I was being charged far more then the correct fare, they put me in touch with LUL Customer Services and I got every penny reinbursed back to me backdated to when I originally applied for it which came to around £30 worth of fares.

Now when I have to renew it, I double check it has been done because of this.
