Made the top stories in that part of the world. Seems like a young guy doing some traveling ticketless unhappy at being (rightly) thrown off. Sympathies to the staff involved.

British man, 20, arrested in Switzerland for alleged assault on train conductor with skateboard

A 20-year-old British man has been arrested in Switzerland for allegedly hitting a conductor in the face with a skateboard after being thrown off a train for not having a ticket.

Swiss Police said the man was travelling from Zurich to Munich by train when he was found to be travelling without a ticket.

He was led off the train at St Margrethen where he allegedly assaulted a conductor on the platform before fleeing the scene.

The 58-year-old conductor lost several teeth in the assault and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Wonder if we'll see him in the Disputes section in the future?

I sincerely hope the Swiss authorities deal with him appropriately unlike in this country,<( sympathies with the conductor just doing his job, hope he makes a full recovery.

Fare evasion alone is not seen as a trivial offense in Switzerland, but if he's convicted for assault I'm not sure what the result will be.

He deserves to do time, knocking out the teeth of a working man. I'd give him one year per tooth lost. Presumably the cost of repairing the teeth will not be cheap.

Just pathetic, definitely deserves plenty of time in jail and a ban from rail travel.

We do only have a press report on this so far. I certainly sympathise with the emotions expressed on here, but until there is a court decision, with all evidence presented, we can't really say what happened, methinks.

How awful, I hope the Swiss crew member will be ok and won't have to pay for his dental treatment.

Does not reflect well on the UK.

I think something similar happened like this in Singapore with European visitors causing damage to one of their metro trains a few months ago.? Not quite sure what the outcome of that was?

assault of rail staff is certainly a growing problem here in Germany too. Even if one just got the wrong type of ticket by accident, some people just behave awfully. :(

Yes I suppose it is a sad reflection on these modern times.

(By the way, are you by any chance the gentleman, who sometimes acts as a tour manager for some UK Rail Tour Operators?)

A reflection on the united kingdom and its self entitled brats being sired today. Can only hope Switzerland deals with these things properly and he goes away for years. That should help him wake up to himself.

I hear that, perhaps they just needed a "Big Man" like the one who ejected the student scrote in Scotland a few months ago.

I blame the parents, one of which I'm sure has just parked their AMG mercedes in the middle of a roundabout.

Rich people do what they want, that attitude is fed to the kids, the kids do what they want. If they get caught, they'll just buy their way out of it, like this little brat will.

And was hounded by the Police who were determined to prosecute him but we're not interested in doing the scrote whi caused the issue in the first place!

Singapore will treat anything criminal very severely.

Isn't that just typical today.

Yes so I understand. I did go there years ago and it felt very safe and clean.
Perhaps we should take a leaf out of their book ?
