'GroupSave' Travelcard from Eastbourne

Hi,

I will be travelling up to London with a few mates on this, upcoming, Friday. As there are 5 of us going, we intend to get a Group Saver. However, I am a little hazy on the ins and outs of the rules and regulations associated with this type of ticket.
The journey is as follows:
We'll be travelling from Eastbourne to Victoria at around 11am(Off Peak);
We will be using buses and, most likely, the Underground (Do they do a Travelcard on a Group Saver?);
We will be travelling back down to Eastbourne at around 8 or 9pm (again, Off Peak).

The crucial question is, can we put a Travelcard onto a Group Saver?
Also, if we decide to split up during the day and meet up later, would we be allowed to travel on the bus/underground without being in the group?

You can certainly purchase off-peak day travel cards as part of a Southern GroupSave.

Obviously you all need to travel together on the National Rail part of your journey. I'm not sure whether this technically applies when using the travelcard on London Underground and London Busses, but it's certainly very unlikely to be enforced.

Do any of you have Railcards? If so, those people should buy their own tickets (at the same price) to avoid having to be together.

The cost of a Super Off Peak Day Travelcard appears to be £15.40 each (for a group of between 3-9 people, or for a Railcard holder).

The group is supposed to be together, even on LU.

Note, you can only buy group save from the ticket office and on train staff. Might want to think about buying the day before to avoid queues. Just one note if you do, check the date on the ticket the second the ticket office hands them over.
If you want to split up on the tube and only doing the odd trip you might want to think about an cheap group ticket for the trains only. I know they sell them at tourist info. ~They are a green thing. Then use your contactless debit cards for your tube trips.

As an aside, there are mumblings that for group saves they want us to start issuing one ticket per group to stop abuse. How this will work for travelcards and on the late trains to Brighton where we sell a lot of group save singles, I'm not sure. This of course could be mess room gossip (worse than a fisher wifes or Chinese whispers).

Then you'll have to stick together.

Perhaps not on buses, but on trains (including LU) you really do need to stay together as a group if you want the discount

In that case, I'll make sure we do purchase the tickets beforehand! I have had problems before with the dates being wrong. It's not a process I want to go through again!
Sadly, I believe we will be using the Bus/Underground services quite a bit on Friday, so we would have to use a group ticket that covers all transport.

It would be interesting to see how they'd work that! Would that just apply to Thameslink Govia?

GroupSave is available to purchase through most booking engines. If you use Southern's, for example, select 'Return' , '5 adults', and 'London Travelcard Zones 1-6' as the destination. Ensure the correct time and date is entered. The booking engine will then offer you the Super Off Peak Day Travelcard for a total of £77.00 (£15.40 each).
