The incident on the goal line in the West Ham goalmouth brought to mind the "Hawkeye" system at the Grand Slam tennis tournament at Wimbledon. As long as even a miniscule part of the ball appears to have contact with the line, it is NOT a goal, as the WHOLE of the ball has to be OVER the goal line.

Exactly goal line technology is worth it's weight in gold, you can't argue with it although as a Chelsea fan I wish it hadn't been in use yesterday;)

I really cannot see any rational argument against modern technology

Any different to seeing games won or lost by player error?
It's part of the game. Always has been. I just think football is not suited to video replay. Take today for example. The penalty and sending off in the Sunderland Newcastle game. I have seen arguments for and against the decision. Would a video replay have made any difference to that?
Too many unanswered questions for me. So until they are answered I will prefer the status quo.

Clear penalty for me at Sunderland, defenders get away with that sort of thing far too often.

Perhaps not a red card as the keeper would probably have got the ball anyway but blame the stupidity of Colocccini

Moyes would fit the Villa.

This would be seen that he cannot face the stresses of the managerial challenge afforded him in his managerial role in La Liga at Real Sociedad where he was appointed on 10th November 2014 and coming after his short managerial stay at Manchester United, would say that he lacked commitment.

Real Sociedad currently lie in 17th position in La Liga with only one win in the first nine league games this season.

Russ Wilcox has been sacked by York City. Been dreadful watching them recently, my first season without a season ticket for years due t me moving down to London. Went home for the 3-1 loss to AFC Wimbledon on Saturday but it was diabolical. Defenders lost confidence and a midfield which did not exist. He lost the crowd on the first game of the season where there were chants for him to be sacked.

Open application process now so will be 2/3 weeks before we have a new manager but a "dream team" of ex player Richard Cresswell, Jonathon Greening and Andy Leening have been put in charge for next Saturday's game away at Crawley and most likely the FA Cup match the following weekend.

Sorry to see York struggling as they have always been a decent side and have helped Darlo out on more than one occasion (buying Gary Himsworth off us when the tax man was braying for blood, coming in big numbers when we had three games to save our club then buying John Mcreadie isn't forgotten) and thought Wilcox might be able to turn it around after keeping them up last season.

Really enjoyed the game and in all fairness Huddersfield were never out of it and perhaps should have had a penalty. I was impressed with your 'keeper' who pulled off three wonderful saves although I'm sure you'll agree that he couldn't do anything about our winner. I hope you stick with Chris Powell as he was a real fans favorite at Derby and I thought he was unlucky to get the push at Charlton. Having met my children at Sheffield we did indeed enjoy a few pints in and around the station before heading up to the ground. I have a question for you; on your shirts there are three stars; I'm guessing here that they represent each of the league championships that you won? At least that's what I told my children! Good luck for the rest of the season. Incidentally when I say children one is aged 20 and other two are 22 and I'm proud to say that even though they were born and raised in London they support 'Dad's' club!

The three stars do indeed represent the hat-trick of league titles won in the 1920s, still a record that hasn't been beaten and has only been equalled by Arsenal (1930s, initially under Herbert Chapman who was at the helm for our first two); Liverpool (1980s); and Newton Heath in the Moneyball era.

That's a good point and I think Brendan Rogers must be favourite?

FA Cup first round draw in a quarter of an hour!

I'd like a trip to Spotland. Failing that, the DW, Bloomfield Road or Boundary Park would do nicely.

I could do without a trip to Burton, Luton or Barnet, and certainly don't want to draw Jim Rushe FC (in the event of them making it past Chorley).

Oldham got awful draw away to Mansfield. :( we played Mansfield only couple of season back in R2 in which we beat them at there place in replay and got award trip to Anfield in R3.

I see some of non league teams have done well in draw.

Port Vale v Maidenhead United
Bristol Rovers v Chesham United
Altrincham v Barnsley
Crewe Alexandra v Eastleigh
Salford City v Notts County
Millwall v AFC Fylde
Sheffield United v Worcester City
Doncaster Rovers v Stalybridge Celtic or North Ferriby United
Didcot Town v Exeter City
Leyton Orient v Staines Town
Gainsborough Trinity v Shrewsbury Town
Maidstone United v Yeovil Town
FC United of Manchester v Chesterfield
Wealdstone v Colchester United

http://www.thefa.com/news/the-fa-cup/2015/oct/emirates-fa-cup-draw-first-round

No doubt Salford match against Notts County and FC United v Chesterfield will get choice for TV matches.

York drawn away to Accrington, boring draw, we always get a club in the same league. Could be the new managers first game. Not even any decent ones down here in London for me to go to, might be Wealdstone for me

Hmm, Southend United at home. certainly not the easiest tie we could have possibly got, but it's still win-able.

However, I think I may have to make a trip to the Northolme to see the mighty Gainsborough Trinity take on Shrewsbury Town.

Bet the police are on the phone to the FA as I type complaining that the draw was rigged.

Doncaster, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Gainsborough and Sheffield United all drawn at home, and Hull City at home in the Championship as well. I can see at least 2 of those games being moved to the Sunday!

Last season about 8 games were moved to the Sunday anyway so that the BBC could do an extended final score-type-FA Cup-special-thingy.

They are doing the same this season. The BBC are all over Salford City and FCUM like a rash, but for instance Gainsborough v Shrewsbury may not be on live, but will probably be moved in case there's a "giantkilling".

Evo Stik Premier League

Hyde United 3...Colwyn Bay 2

In the Monday night match, Hyde took an early lead but Colwyn Bay scored twice and led 2-1 at half-time. However, Scott Spencer scored two goals mid-way through the second half and Hyde registered yet another league win.

Hyde are now up to in fourth place in the league.

Fantastic result for the owls.

I wonder if 5Live were expecting to cover three penalty shoot outs simultaneously

Stoke win on penalties and, surprise surprise, the London pundits have nothing to say about them - all about Chelsea. Poor form from the BBC

How do you end up supporting Chelsea when your dad supports Shef Wed? What a crime! Don't take that personally by the way mate, purely interested.

He was born in Retford (and was at Barnby Moor level crossing when Flying Scotsman went by on her last BR service) but moved to London before I was born. As it so happens, when I lived in London, Chelsea were the closest side to where I lived.

I don't care who we get in the quarter finals, we'll give anyone a game. I do my very best to follow every single Sheffield Wednesday game even with the 8 hour time difference. Last night's game kicked off at 3:45am, and by the time I'd calmed down, it was 6:10 before I got into bed and a few hours sleep before work.

Lots of rather sleepless nights, having had 3 evening kick offs recently and so my sleeping pattern is all over, but considering I only have to get up before midday once, it doesn't matter too much.

It feels good to be an Owl, I don't buy the crap that Arsenal put the kids out. They did have a weakened bench but...

Cech, Metresacker, Debuchy, Gibbs, Chambers, Flamini, Oxlade Chamberlain, Campbell, Giroud all started for Arsenal. Hardly a kids team, there's 300+ caps alone from those 9 players.

Outclassed, outfought them. Really hard working bunch of players we've got, and Forestieri was cup-tied. Bannan was superb again as was Kieran Lee who are both workhorses, Wallace's set pieces are terrific. Hutchinson got his 9th booking of the campaign but scored, and he worked his socks off again.

Brilliant time to be a Wednesday fan.

Superb on Friday too, calm on the ball. Always fighting for it, just a really good midfielder for Championship level. Hopefully we help him get his career back on track, didn't realise it was so long that he'd been at Villa.

His clipped pass to set in Pudil for the cross for the first goal was absolutely fantastic.
