Saw a silver loco hauled coaching stock (LHCS) rake and matching Class 67 south of Manchester Piccadilly, on the throat but south of Ardwick, yesterday (12th) around 4:45pm. Doors might have been turquoise.
Is that the Gerald set? Why was it in Manchester?

The train originally known as Y Gerallt Gymro (Gerald of Wales), now called the Premier Service, is the Holyhead <> Cardiff train.

The Manchester to Llandudno train you saw is a different train and doesn't convey a 1st class kitchen car.

See the ATW entry in the Frequently Requested Diagrams Thread thread at the top of this section for details of the ATW loco hauled trains.

I have heard that this set might be working over the summer weekends. Does anyone know if it will be out this weekend?

Cheers!

Brilliant, thanks! Would it be possible for you to know if it is running Friday night/Saturday morning. I will only head out if it is 67014.

Cheers!

This does seem to be running today.
However the first ECS leg is an hour late and RTT says it is pathed as a 158 (later ones are loco).

I suppose it might turn round short to catch up.

Edit: Turned round at Bangor pretty much to time.

Thanks guys. I've decided not to head out today now as stuff at home needs doing. Hopefully I will get it soon though!

Plus it is included in the frequently asked diagrams thread which lists all of the loco hauled workings throughout the country.

Has been posted on other Forums and Groups that the Manchester to North Wales LHCS is likely to be DMU worked until early December. It has been DMU all this week due to wheel flats on the DVT (allegedly). As it has not been a late short notice failure and arranged in advance, it has settled down as being worked by 2x150s.

Owing to the large numbers of units out of service today, the LHCS has risked it and come out to play today. 67001 working.

WAG 1W96 17 16 Cardiff to Holyhead tonight (67002) terminated Newport and returned to Canton at reduced speed due "Square Wheels" on vehicles. Can't make sense of ATW Journey Check at all as states short formed with 2 Cars and no catering which I think refers to the train re-starting as a 20 06 from Chester to Holyhead.

Later reported set off HABD at Marshfield as a Level 2.

I'm supposed to be on the WAG express tonight :( typical for it to be a DMU! Can I claim a refund as I have a business class ticket, which 158's don't have?

It may be loco hauled tonight - the set will have been in Canton all day.

It is LHCS tonight. Silver 67029 on the back, I haven't clocked what's on the front yet, but I will when I get off.

Edit: although we are already running late due to a technical fault.

Now terminated at Newport :(

Add to last night's thread DITTO Lost 7 mins from Cardiff and returned ECS.
Also on Journey Check already that 05 33 ex Holyhead in the morning will be 2 Cars and reduced catering, presumably trolley service.

ATW having a bad night. The Gerald replacement service hit a tree between Hereford and Shrewsbury, losing 60mins and terminating at Shrewsbury. Then the Shrewsbury-Chester service hit a tree. Currently on a Northern 142 to Manchester Piccadilly, snails pace, but it's getting us there, where we're getting taxi's onwards to West Yorks. Fun day.

158821 working Manchester today after reports running around yesterday with square wheels. Could only afford one unit due shortage as a result of tree bashing. Blame Barney.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

158821 swapped out at Chester at 11 00 for 175/1 so one more coach.

Paupers Manchester WAG today worked by 2x150. ATW Twitter says due to Loco undergoing essential maintenance. It seems to be hit and miss at the moment, especially as 175 had to take over in the afternoon yesterday due ATW Drivers Overtime ban.
