Hi Guys,

Am after some assistance with my other half's season ticket as we are currently expecting a new bundle of joy, and obviously need to maximise the cash.

My other half has an annual season ticket from Flitwick to London Stations purchased though Thameslink who state that there are no refunds for tickets with less than 3 months life on them. The expiry date of the ticket is the 12 May 2016.

Plan was to refund the ticket yesterday on return to Flitwick but due to catching a later than planned train the ticket office was closed on return.

Is there an option to refund the remainder of the ticket? or can we potentially swap it for a different route to trigger a pro rata refund of the difference? We have looked through the forums and it appears that a transfer of route might be an option.

Any help and advice would be gratefully received, thank you in advance for your time :)

You might want to consider a changeover to a Lichfield City-Lichfield Trent Valley season ticket. I'm sure someone can assist with calculating how much of a refund you'd be due.

As the only benefit of that would be the Annual Gold Card and the intention is to maximise the refund, is there a cheaper annual season outside the Gold Card area?

If there is one I think it'd be quite hard to find, The Lichfield example is only about £4 a week.

Exact calculation may depend slightly on who works it out. I don't have last year's prices to hand right now so any calculation I do would likely be wrong.

But if OP has a gold card, his missus probably won't need one.

As the reason is a good one...you might try asking for a refund anyways...

A refund will still be given on the basis of the time used, which will amount to something very close to nothing at all. This is clearly less than the refund given against a changeover as this is calculated on a pro-rata basis, which assumes that the season has a value left at all times up to the week before expiry.
