Due to emergency services dealing with incident between Wolverhampton and Telford, 1G75 19 30 Aberystwyth to Birmingham Intl diverted from Shrewsbury via Crewe (reverse) and Stafford to Wolverhampton. 21 04 Birmingham Intl to Chester in opposite direction diverted via Stafford and Crewe missing out all stations via Shrewsbury and Wrexham..

ATW should have that route knowledge within their business as normal booked services over various depots cover these routes.

Not to mention South Wales-Manchester running non-stop to Oxford Road via Warrington from Crewe this week, because of the Sandbach route closure.
They reverse in Oxford Road P1 which is very narrow and has little shelter and no lift.
Unusually, there was a 158 unit at the buffers of Crewe P7 today, and two 2-car 175s looking pretty sick in the sidings at Chester.
175 003 only had one vehicle.

One of the 2-car units attaches to a Manchester service and the split unit is up for a major overhaul, 158's are common in Platform 7 I actually took one in there this evening it's a booked platform. I reversed today at Oxford Road in Platform 3. Not being derogatory but this is what happened. There is a 175 in the middle yard at Chester every day normally.

They do in fact most Chester drivers in one link sign via Aston and Bescot as do most Salop drivers.

Why is the split unit up for a major overhaul? What are they doing?

Although Shrewsbury don't sign the Stafford diversion used in this instance - just one link at Chester and both links at Crewe who sign that.

Indeed, and the Chester driver and Crewe guard who work 1G75 from Shrewsbury-Birmingham then work 1D19 22:52 Birmingham-Holyhead, which is one of those two services that runsvia Stafford.

The majority of the Oxford Road services from South Wales used platform 3 most of the time. Have to say it's been a nightmare. There is only about a ten minute turnaround there and it's just not long enough, especially as the diversion has probably caused delays and services have left back to South Wales late. My incoming train yesterday (0435 ex-Cardiff) arrived 18 minutes late yesterday, meaning it's return journey left 13 minutes late. Pushed it quite fine for my TPE out of Piccadilly.
