I am moving to South London (location tbd) in a few weeks time to take up a job opportunity in the area however I will need to work in St Albans for a few weeks/months. Understandably (or not depending on how you look at it!) the ST ticket price up to SAC is very pricey (£350pm) from stations such as Peckham Rye, Crofton Park, Catford etc.

I have a few questions:

1) Are there any benefits regarding route choices from purchasing ST from a station such as Honour Oak Park rather than Crofton Park?

2) Are there any restrictions/benefits (particularly on breaking journeys) buying anytime returns with a railcard (as this is cheaper over 20-22days per month than a ST)

3) Can a SAC -> London Zone 1-6 ST be used in reverse as any other normal ST?

4) Is there anything else i havent considered?

Thanks,
Alex

Let's say you commenced a Season the day after Easter Monday (ie, Tuesday 29 March and you wanted it to last 5 weeks, you'd buy a 1 month & 1 day season, priced at £357. With free travel over 4 weekends if you happen to want to go somewhere en-route for leisure journeys.

That's 24 working days (based on a 5-day week minus the Bank Holiday), so would be £360 buying individual tickets.

So, depending on the days in a month, and how many days you travel, a Season can be cheaper... not to mention a lot more convenient!

3) Can a SAC -> London Zone 1-6 ST be used in reverse as any other normal ST?
Season Tickets are valid for unlimited number of journeys between any stations on any permitted route in any direction at any time within the validity period.
