Can anyone direct me towards sites or artists who paint modern traction as opposed to steam. I have seen some of Philip Hawkins work which while mostly steam does have some modern traction.

I would prefer it if they sold prints rather than one off commission works.

Thanks

This was the kind of thing I had in mind.

It is easy enough to make your own. All you need is a camera, some free (or cheapish) software and then pay to have a print made at the size you require.

Scroll down this page to see some simple examples, all produced from a single photo of a Class 37 & train.

They all look utter cr*p though...

That is because they were done quickly just to demonstrate the type of effect that can be produced. A real artist (someone better than me) could do much better with the same types of procedure....

PS - "Looking crap" is a matter of opinion. Personally, I cannot comprehend why anyone would pay millions for a work by Picasso, Damien Hirst, etc., or why a gallery would bother to display paint thrown at a wall.....

Yeah, I'd agree with everything in that PS as well. The beauty of expression in those instances is what holds the value of the work, but it is extremely difficult for one not involved in it's creation to see or realise said value.
