Glad that this guy got arrested, not just killed. He needs to go on trial for what he's done.

TheGrauniad said:
A suspect in the Paris attacks, Salah Abdeslam, has been shot and arrested in a police raid in the Molenbeek area of Brussels after a four-month international manhunt.

“We got him,” the Belgian secretary of state for asylum and migration tweeted.

Police said the 26-year-old was wounded in the leg and that a second person was arrested during the operation, which took place as EU leaders met on the other side of the city to discuss Europe’s migration crisis.

The French president, François Hollande, and the Belgian prime minister, Charles Michel, left the summit to discuss the operation.

There were several exchanges of gunfire in Molenbeek – the scene of past investigations into the Paris attacks – and police officers were seen surrounding an apartment block there. More here, live updates here.

Seeing the bottles thrown at Police outside the Police Station shows how some of the locals were sympathetic to terrorism.

He might also be an important source of information should he choose to talk. It's amazing how many in his position seek to minimise their own importance if it means they might get out of prison before they die and minimising themselves means maximising others.

Unfortunate that "got him" recalls the triumphalism (usually misplaced) of George W Bush.

In the English language, perhaps so. In this case, perhaps more relief/embarrassment, especially after his supposed escape from under their noses a couple of days ago. The Belgians probably have enough savvy to know they are not highly regarded for much by most of their neighbours, particularly France. Rowan Atkinson is shortly starring in a Maigret re-make : perhaps a Clousseau re-make, but transferred to Brussels might be more appropriate.

Question him "robustly" in order to extract all of his information then seeing as there is no chance of using him as a mole sling him in prison for the rest of his life and forget about him.

No it's not unfortunate at all as it's actually what happened.

What should they have said -" We've unfortunately caught the most wanted man in Europe, we do apologise to some of the Muslim community and others who would rather we hadn't."
What's wrong with triumphalism when it's justified as it certainly is in this case, why do you think it's wrong to be happy when a terrorist has been caught. ?

It recalls the triumphalism of George W Bush, which was woefully misplaced and by stirring up resentment in certain groups almost certainly caused more terrorism than it extinguished.

So you think that when a terrorist is caught there should be no celebration in case it upsets other terrorists.?

If he'd have been caught and nobody had said anything that could be deemed to be self congratulatory the reaction from others would have been no different.
