Just trying to figure out if there is likely to be any freight running on the Bank Holiday Friday and Monday of Easter, through Doncaster, or if it would likely be a waste of time going to try and view anything?

I rarely go anywhere on Bank Holidays, so I figured it may be best to ask and see if anyone knows.

Thanks

Robinson 102,

even on a normal Friday there is hardly any freight at Doncaster at the moment. Taking last Friday only 6 services ran (0900 - 1200) and 7 (1200 - 1700). I therefore assume that there would be even fewer on a Bank Holiday.

I was there by chance for a few hours yesterday. I realise it was a Sunday but I only saw one engineering train!

I was also there back in February (on a Monday) and saw a few more. There were 8 freights between 11.15 and 15.30). Have a look at the photos:- https://www.flickr.com/photos/66737297@N06/albums/72157664582960021

I was just going to make the same comment myself! :)

As an illustration, here is a free copy of the Doncaster FMonline timetable:

(press the [Friday] button at the top of the timetable to show Friday freights)

But the main attraction of Doncaster these days is not freight on it's own,
but the combination of a few freight workings and a very large variety
of passenger FOCs.
