1. How many of our UK members have NEVER been to London?

2. How many of our London members have NEVER (like me) been north of York?

I've never been to New York - does that count?

Speaking of the far north of the U.K. has anyone else on here been up Muckle Flugga lighthouse on Unst?

To avoid both questions...

1) Been as far north as Thurso

2) Which station is farthest south out of Cardiff Central, Bath or Charlton? That's as far south as I've been (by rail)

No, I don't know what the point of this post was either!

I have been to London around 3 or 4 times, not recently though (5-8 years ago), and only travelled to a London network rail station other than King's Cross and St Pancras once and that was in Battersea area. So other than that Zone 1 & 2 on Tube is all I've seen, which is a shame as Croydon trams is what I wanted to see, but the trips were just my sister going to Topshop effectively. I didn't see the point.

In my experience I would suspect that a greater proportion of London residents have spent time in other cities than residents of non-London cities have spent time in other cities which they do not reside in.

By train I assume, I've been to Edinburgh a couple of times. When I lived in Hampshire, I went to London dozens of times, (not to work) over a period of 17 years.

If we are considering what is essentially leisure travel, wouldn't that be because the interest would be in seeing something markedly different?
With the greatest respect to all of them, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester and York, (all of which I have visited more than once) are not as different from each other as London is, whereas they are all very different from home through the eyes of a 'Londoner' (including those living within the 'London lifestyle area').

1. How do you want to avoid London if you come from Dover.
2. In 2005 last time in the UK. Had to buy a Thomas Cook Timetablebook. Went from London to Glasgow, Edinburgh, back to London and left the country.

1: I've been to or through London about half a dozen times, and stayed a night once.

2: I've been to York twice on holiday. The latter time included visits to Scarborough and Whitby.
I've also been to Windermere for a weekend break.

I haven't been any further north (except for a stop-over at Glasgow Airport on a transatlantic flight).

Oh I've been to Georgia and California, and, anywhere I could run
Took the hand of a preacherman and we made love in the sun
But I ran out of places and friendly faces because I had to be free
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me

I haven't been to London yet. However, I've submitted my passport application. If all goes well then I'll visit the greatest city in the world in 2017.

How many people have been to Southampton but never been to Scunthorpe?

(Those who have flown on Concorde are excluded)

I've been to Coober Pedy and in summer that little town is damn hot. What prize do I win? At the very least I should be rewarded with a bottle of Tooheys New and ideally a bottle of Little Creatures. Draught would be good but for crying out loud not in a pot or else I will forever be heading back to the bar. Thanks.
