Nothing for the rest of this month......I work shifts and my days off move up a day every week so I work a lot of weekends.

Next month I'm planning to go to the Swanage Railway diesel gala on Friday 6 May. I'll drive down because I need to get there early.

Then I'm torn between the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway steam and diesel gala on Saturday 14 May or the Ecclesbourne valley Railway multiple memories DMU gala on the same day. Which to choose???

Then on Bank holiday Monday 30 May it's the Bure Valley Railway everything goes gala.

What a choice and a really hard decision between the two - I really enjoy the RHDR as it's a great line for bashing along with the flatness of the Romnery Marshes plus the desert at Dungeness. However, I'd be equally tempted by the DMU gala as I am sure there's a few winners up there for me.

I didn't realise there was a Gala at Ecclesbourne that weekend! Bonus for me as I will be at my father in law's then and he lives 5 minutes walk to the station in Wirksworth! I know what I will be trying to do!

I can't do the Sunday you see so I'm spoilt for choice for the Saturday. I've done the RH&DR before but still need locos. On the other hand I need the DMUs at EVR:roll:

My vote is for the RHDR as it's the only one I've visited ;)

Which RHDR locos are you after? Some are currently out of traffic undergoing overhaul and are not expected to be back in traffic before the gala

Thanks Keith

I'm after 6 steam locos:
2 Northern Chief
3 Southern Maid
4 The Bug
5 Hercules
6 Samson
7 Typhoon
I've done the other 4 steam as I always seem to get the same locos. 12 JB Snell and 14 Captain Howey the diesels have been done as well.

Status is as follows
Chief - overhaul complete - expected back in traffic by may gala
Maid - out of traffic for the winter. Needs new tender
Bug - rare performer but likely to be out and about during gala time
Hercules - under overhaul, not expected to be completed by gala time.
Sammy - overhaul just started
Typhoon - In traffic

So for the May gala you'll probably pick up Chief, Bug and Typhoon. And if they are short of power or cannot get a guest loco, I reckon Maid might appear with a tender from Sammy or Hercules

There's five other steamers - I suspect that it's Black Prince that you've not had as that's a rare beast these days.

I had a trip down there yesterday and picked up Typhoon, so she's done. I'll still be going to the May gala I've decided.
