I've got an Oyster card that I only use occassionally for pay as you go tube and bus journeys, and I've got credit on it.

I'd like to start using contactless instead - is there any way of transferring the credit from they Oyster card to contactless? Or can I cash the Oyster card in at a tfl ticket office?

No, you cannot transfer this balance. You can get the balance refunded back to you, buy you'll be hard pressed to find a ticket office at which to do so - they all closed by the end of 2015!

If the card has less than £10 on credit you can do a self-service refund on any 'double-width' 'Multi-fare' ticket machine. Over this amount you will need to visit a Visitor Centre or follow the online process. These options are also available for less than £10 on the card.

Thanks :)

I'll run the balance down, turn off auto top up, and cash in.

Place the order to cancel auto top up just (a day or two) before your next trip. It can only be done as part of a journey and you don't want it to inadvertantly add a further £20.
