So my first year of spotting buses a big and enjoyable success and my love of train spotting since 1989 going well, the wife asked me last week why I had never taken up Eddie stobart spotting..... Seemingly a nearly "passable" past time with "normal" society (non transport enthusiasts)

I explained that I was bought up around buses and trains due to dads job and interests and lorries never really appealed to me in the same way....... But that was it, she clearly planted the seed and the next day i was driving and every time I spotted an Eddie I couldn't help but look for the number/name or even try and remember the plate.

So I've taken the plunge and started Eddie spotting and I don't know if it will last or if I'll love it and wonder where it's been all my life but I look forward to giving it a go either way.

Are there any other Eddie spotters on the forum?, any good places to see a load of eddies in one go (I live in Lutterworth so am planning to try magnan park and also DIRFT on the A5)

Played it for hours with our daughter on long journeys. We don't go into names, trailer numbers though. We have different scores for the different wagons types

Rigid
Low artic
Fridge artic
Double height artic
Biomass
Fuel tanker
Car transporter etc etc

Rarer the wagon the more points.

If anyone sees a blue Stobart Rail truck they win the game! Only ever seen one.

I did some driving for them years ago and there are a lot of 'Eddie spotters' about. I was particularly astounded when I pulled into Clackett Lane service station and a group of French tourists came rushing over with cameras at the ready!

Isn't Carlise the best place to see them?
I see some go towards the Youngs factory often, always a green and write lorry, no blue. What I look out for is the names each lorry has, always a girl's name.
On other lorries I'm only interested in the town name stamped on the back of smaller operators.

Can't escape from them here in Carlisle. I used to work on the Kingstown Estate where they had a big base and I live not very far from the Metal Box (or whatever it is called now) factory which sees many Eddies.

Before moving to Carlisle I lived in Warrington, which seemed to be infested with them as well!

It amazes me sometimes that I never took up Eddie spotting.
