I've tried to make a booking on First Hull Trains website for Luton - Sandown 1st advance with a DSB railcard (2 passengers) on Monday 27 June, departing after 1000, but no fares are available. First Hull Trains tell me that WEBTIS based sites cannot sell them because of the ferry connection.

Not being familiar with the various sites, are there are any non-WEBTIS based sites out there apart from The Trainline, which I don't want to use because it adds charges? Nectar points and / or Quidco cashback would be a bonus...

The Virgin Trains East Coast journey planner uses WEBTIS but can offer me the desired advances for a later date the same week: once the mixing deck is showing, use the "Select a route" function to discover the various options.

It seems to only be Hull trains' problem. I've tried a search using East coast and they seems to work fine, and are also WEBTIS. But if you don't want to use a WEBTIS site you could just use South West Trains for instance, since they set the fare.

Edit: Said completely the opposite of what I meant!

South West Trains does not use WEBTIS.

I have booked tickets like that on the East Coast website so it is definetly not a Webtis problem but a HT problem.

It could be something as silly as the Hull Trains site back end not including text to use for the Wightlink route. I know WebTIS does hide fares if it doesn't have its own version of the fare name, although I don't know if it's something the individual TOCs manage.

This may also be the reason why I wasn't able to get VTEC to offer any tickets using Hovertravel.

SWT use the Trainline engine, and it works fine with them.

Thanks everyone; I booked with TPE: 1% c/b on Quidco and Nectar points, so almost as good as HT!

This simply looks like HT have not set up their WebTIS site to sell fares for the neccessary route codes.

You should tell them this and it should be really easy for them to get them added.
