Hi all.

I'll be travelling from Nottingham on the 11th to Exeter Central on the 14:41 Service.

I know the train that i'll catch to Birmingham from Nottingham but other than that i'm lost

16:12 - Birmingham New Street (What will the train name be on the front) the trainline.com doesn't say. (Also platforms would be HUGELY helpful)!

Thank you.

The 1612 is a through XC service from Aberdeen to Penzance. The RealTimeTrains website is predicting platform 12B, but this isn't set in stone at a place like New St, make sure you check indications on the day. The train is timetabled to be in New St for 10 mins if running to time though, so there should be ample boarding time.

Thanks so much!

That train will take you through as far as Exeter St Davids (where it is due to arrive at 1841 on platform 4) you will then need to catch 1850 Great Western service to Exmouth (from platform 1) or the 1925 South West Trains service to Waterloo (also platform 1). Both of those trains call at Exeter Central.

As above the platforms may change on the day so you should always double check departure screens to ensure that you are on the correct train.

And don't book via The Trainline as they charge fees, you can get the same tickets from a TOC website which doesn't charge fees

Why not change at Derby?
The train from Nottingham should arrive on platform 3 at 15.06, and the Exeter (it will say Penzance on the front) departs from platform 3 at 15.28 (& calls at Birmingham New Street at 16.12). HOWEVER, if you have purchased Advance tickets already that say you must change at Birmingham I am afraid you will have to stick to that as your Advance ticket will NOT be valid on the Penzance train between Derby and Birmingham. Sorry

Sorry what's a TOC? website can you provide a link thanks.

Train Operating Company.

Basically you would be better using a train company website as they can sell the same range of tickets as the trainline but they do not charge you booking fees.
