Sankey to Huyton

Sankey to Liverpool via Warrington is a permitted route (though correct me if I'm wrong).

Sankey to Liverpool CDR is £6

Sankey to Huyton CDR is £11.

CDR allows break of journey.

So - can I travel from Sankey to Huyton via Warrington on a Sankey to Liverpool CDR?

Southern's booking engine will offer me iteniaries via Warrington Central, Walk to Bank Quay, and then via Earlstown into Liverpool Lime Street. I would take a print-out if you can, or a screenshot on a mobile.

It does seem so. Going the other way round, via Liverpool. gives different results.

Widnes, next station along, doesn't offer a valid route to Huyton via Warrington.

Valid via Warrington and Earlestown.

Not valid via Warrington and Wigan

I can only think the fares for Sankey and Warrington were the same in 1996, because on current fares I can't see how it's valid that way, unless I consider Warrington Group to be the "obvious" Routeing point for the journey, or I've missed some bizarre easement.

According to ATOC's Routeing Point calculator, in 1996 the fare from Warrington Central was less than the fare from Sankey.
