How will the EU vote be announced? By region or will they wait until all votes across the country are in?

One other random question. Does anyone know why voting days are always (?) Thursdays?!

Votes will be counted by council area, then combined into the regional and national total. The procedure should be very similar to the AV referendum in 2011.

Thursdays are expected to be best for turnout apparently.
I won't be voting, as the change in voter registration knocked me and many others of the list, my brother can vote, he's pro-EU but will be voting to leave on account of the government wasting money on leaflets making it an unfair playing field. In the USA there's Politifact and others that check all political claims for validity, the UK only has the BBC for that and they are becoming very biased and mistaken themselves.

I bet it will be national at first, with a nice map in the papers showing which areas would have left if they could, Glasgow & Dundee were like that in the big Scots vote.

And if we leave Boris will likely become Prime Minister and we'll get official government leaflets on what'll happen next.

You could do with a slight spelling correction in that post.

why didn't you do something about not being on the electoral roll?

There are loads of bodies checking "facts". Look on the interweb

7th June is the deadline to register for the EU referendum so there is still plenty of time.

Because the letter they sent me, threatened me with an £80 fine for wrong information, & they spelt my name wrong. Also it would of initially put me on the Open rather than Editted list, something I don't want. I also been on the list for 5 years, I see no reason why I was removed, my brother wasn't, just me and my mum.

As a result of others being unable to vote like me, others not having a clue what they're voting for, turnouts being very low, taxpaying 16-17s not being able to vote, a completely unfair First Past The Post system, the UK not being a democracy etc. Has lead me to the conclusion that any vote is unfair, untrue, & corrupt.
I'll have no part in a system which is messed up. My vote would mean nothing as most don't know the facts of the EU debate, just the soundbites. If you know of a website checkking EU vote facts, please post a link.

I've lost all faith in politics now, & I regret ever voting in the last election.

Did your brother used to register the household? Because that would explain why only you and your mum were removed.

So you were sent a letter about being on the electoral role that you needed to respond to and didn't and now complain you have no vote? That isn't "them" taking your vote away that is you not doing anything about it!

You didn't think to give "them" a ring and query why your name was wrong or how you sorted it out?

As a result of others being unable to vote like me, others not having a clue what they're voting for, turnouts being very low, taxpaying 16-17s not being able to vote, a completely unfair First Past The Post system, the UK not being a democracy etc. Has lead me to the conclusion that any vote is unfair, untrue, & corrupt.

that is approaching the realms of tinfoil hattery and barely deserves a reply other than to say if you don't want to vote to change things don't complain.

I entered the following term: fact checking EU referendum into the google machine and it brought up loads of returns. Take your pick of whichever one suits your personal taste.

Don't complain when something important gets taken away. The system is imperfect but it is the best one we are going to get. We had a chance to change the voting system and chose not to.

The UK is still a de jure democracy, despite what you might think. You have the right to vote (when you are registered, obviously).

Check out this article, which is obviously biased. I don't see the problem with the "in" campaign being funded by pro-EU businesses.

There have been a number of television advertisements in the past concerning how important it is to ensure that people are registered in order to be able to cast their vote.

Is it still the case where you can decide not to vote but, if told to vote, you can get a fine and prison time? I know that what it said on my local council election papers the other week.

Personally, i will be voting "Out"...

It is illegal to ever force someone to vote, as far as I know.

Voting is optional. (But highly recommended IMPO)

You can't be fined, or sent to prison for not voting

I don't even know where to begin with this!

Lots of procedural questions have the answer here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_European_Union_membership_referendum,_2016

Precisely.

I think it's when you don;t register to vote. You will not be fined or punished by other means if you were to register and not vote.

A dose of common sense should make that conclusion blindingly obvious! Does anyone think that the government would prosecute the 60 to 80 percent of eligible voters who didn't go to vote?

dumb question: if you're registered to vote, do you need to do anything to be able to vote in the euro referendum or will you automatically be eligible?
