A lot of construction work going on at Preston with hoarding up everywhere. A sign there talks about a new entrance and retail space. Anyone know any details? Are they going to close the current main entrance?

I hope not.

That's what I call a properentrance to a station!

I doubt it given they have just rebuilt the old "travel centre" area into a multiple ticket vending machine area so would be wasted if the closed off either of the existing entrances.

There are three planning applications with Preston City Council. One is to replace the present covered extension to the subway at Platform 7 with "a new ‘contrasting’ structure to create a more modern and passenger friendly environment, whilst maintaining the historic features of the station".

I'm not so sure about the external view: Elevation Plan

The next development is a cycle hub next to the multi storey car park
Plan
Drawing of both schemes

The third application is to replace the now demolished Virgin Trains office on P3 with a West Cornwall Pasty kiosk
