I have an Advance ticket, bought three months ago, that routed me from Hereford to Man Picc to Southport.

Since then, it appears there are no direct trains from Picc to SOP tomorrow, and an enquiry now as if I hadn't already bought my ticket routes me from MAN to Liverpool South Parkway on an East Midlands train, and from there on Merseyrail to Southport.

Am I allowed to use my existing ticket to travel via that route? Time is getting short for making alternative arrangements!

Alternatively, would I be allowed to get off the ATW at Crewe and take a LM to South Parkway?

Have you tried to tweet Northern?

I'd have a word with the guard of the EMT and explain the situation, i should expect you should be able to use any reasonable route.

Too late, I just bought one :( . Oh well, it's only money  .

Would be interesting to know the official position for future reference though.

I would keep the ticket and write to the TOC who you bought the ticket off, they may refund you?

There is a free bus service between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria

I wasn't sure whether that runs on a Sunday. Thanks to your link I now see that it does. However wouldn't buses be a bit funny about suitcases?

Hmm that would be VTEC. I haven't had much luck getting a refund from them for journeys that are nothing to do with their routes.

No, this is one chalked down to experience. But heaven help anyone who argues that I am not travelling on the scheduled route for my ticket!

It's a bit annoying as I will arrive an hour later than intended, and will only have a few minutes to dash into M&S for my necessary supplies, instead of the leisurely stroll around Sainsburys I had planned. I really CBA with the delay repay complications on this one!
